Professional Highlights
Having worked in the Nigeria Maritime Sector (Nigerian Ports Authority as an intern and Nigerian Chamber of Shipping as a staff, I have extensive experience and understanding of the maritime of the industry both in the sea side and landside, private sector and public sector sides accordingly. The organizations I have interfaced with include, Maritime sector MDAs (Federal Ministry of Transport, NIWA, NPA, NIMASA and Nigeria Shippers’ Council, Maritime Academy Oron), Ship owners/Operators, Shipyards, Commercial Shipping Companies, Terminal Operators, Ship Chandlers, Maritime Training Organizations, Offshore Maritime Services Logistics providers, the Nigerian Navy, and Maritime Workers Union.
With just a 24-hour notice, I resumed office as the Acting Director General of the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce, while I was still the Director, Membership and Programmes; thereby holding two offices, I had to manage both portfolios effectively. I discharged my duties efficiently in ensuring that the Chamber attained a significant growth; some of my achievements include the increase of membership base through viable and profitable programmes.
I represented the chamber at events and superintended over the building of the chamber’s new secretariat by coordinating all initiatives and activities, planning and attending meetings, and supervised the building of the secretariat from the foundation stage to the third floor before I exited the organization; and formed an efficient team that produced tangible results among other remarkable achievements. I was the secretary of the five sector committees of the Chamber.
I also managed the finances of the Chamber to ensure that it attained the best financials ever recorded within a two-year financial period; it recorded an annual profit growth margin of 18% and 22% respectively. My tenure also recorded an increase in membership engagements and participation in the Chamber’s activities. Constantly interfaced with the President and other committee chairs on all matters.
I managed the media representation of the Chamber and managed a more visible Chamber through social media engagements.
