Selected Funded Projects
E-Wave
The development of an integrated, higher resolution system for monitoring the energy potential from
sea waves at the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Cyprus coupled with the well-established Cyprus
Coastal Ocean Forecasting System (CYCOFOS).
SeaDataNet II
SeaDataNet has developed an efficient distributed Marine Data Management Infrastructure for the
management of large and diverse sets of data deriving from in situ and remote observation of the seas
and oceans. Professional data centres, active in data collection, constitute a Pan-European network
providing on-line integrated databases of standardised quality. The on-line access to in-situ data,
meta-data and products is provided through a unique portal interconnecting the interoperable node
platforms constituted by the SeaDataNet data centres.
PREMARPOL
The project suggests the development of a complete informational system to collect and manage data
through state-of-the-art sensors which detect pollutants in the marine environment in order to extract
useful information required for the prevention and combating of marine pollution. The project is of great
importance since both national organisations and the European Union are already imposing
sentences to environmental unworthy institutions.
My Ocean 2
The main objective of the MyOcean2 project is to deliver and operate a rigorous, robust and
sustainable Ocean Monitoring and Forecasting system of the GMES Marine Service(OMF/GMS) to
users for all marine applications : maritime safety, marine resources, marine and coastal environment
and climate, seasonal and weather forecasting.

Curriculum Vitae
MEDESS-4MS
MEDESS-4MSaimsto offer a comprehensive and integrated multi-model approach regarding our
response to oil spills at sea; an approach that takes into account all three important aspects related to
marine pollution, that is, Prevention, Detection and Control.
AKTI
The project aims to configure Coastal zone complete management plans for Rhodes and Larnaca,
Cyprus, based on a common scientific methodology as well as with the assistance of public,
professional and social entities as users of the coastal zone.
EKTIMISIS
The overall aim of this project is to develop a GIS, tool and methodology (named EKTIMISIS, Greek
for “assessment”) for rapid deployment of geo-spatial decision support systems (DSS) to assess
incidents and the extent of each incident relative to environmental impacts, determining locations for
sources of energy including development, commercialization, and deployment of renewable and
alternative energy technologies and solutions, addressing issues on EU regulatory compliance and
sustainable development, evaluating disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation
projects, and to generate maps and reports relative to those incidents.
Artificial Reefs
Preparation of a study by the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research (DFMR), (Bid No. 09 /
2013) that involved the study of habitat mapping and positioning of vessels to create artificial reefs in
marine areas of Agia Napa, Limassol (Dasoudi) and Paphos.
The main tasks concern diving in the sea areas of Agia Napa, Limassol ( Dasoudi ) and Paphos and
recording the greatest possible number of marine organisms ( marine flora and fauna ) and
delimitation of the meadows of P. oceanica and the writing of the report. 2013 CYPRUSUBSEA
