My name is Sara Migliori, and I am an Italian technical translator with several years of experience in the field. After 6 amazing years in California, I’ve recently left my in-house role as Language lead at Apple Inc. in Cupertino, CA, to go back to Europe and start my own freelance business.
As a result-oriented language translator within the localization world, I have developed an eye for detail aimed to provide deliverables of the highest quality. I am looking to secure a position in a world class environment where I can bring immediate and strategic value and develop my current skillset further, seeking opportunities to apply my creativity and initiative, as well as my experience, in the translation and copy-writing industry.
My main areas of expertise are:
IT: hardware and software, specs, user manuals, software's UI, help files, etc.
MARKETING AND ADVERTISING: web content, e-mail campaigns, brochures and other printed product information, presentations, collaterals (sales and demonstration scripts, data sheets, white papers, asset kits, etc.), advertising templates, commercials (radio and TV), merchandising guidelines, etc.
At Apple, I have worked as Software Language Lead Translator, were I took care of the following tasks:
Software localization: Localization of iOS, watchOS, tvOS and OS softwares and Apple related apps.
Marketing-oriented localization: Online content and other types of creative texts with the aim of adapting the source to the Italian market.
Apple Terminology and Style Guide management: Review and update of the official Italian style guide to reflect the shifts in the use of language.
Cross-functional linguistic coordination and proofreading aimed at providing the best in-country experience.
In-house QA: Linguistic and functional testing of Apple's softwares in Italian.
In addition to this, I’ve worked as a freelance subtitler and transcreator for many years. I should probably mention also that, at Apple, I was responsible for the curation of Apple’s virtual assistant Siri for the Italian market.
Additional fields of work include: tourism, chemistry, medical and pharmaceutics and mechanical engineering.
My preferred language pair is English > Italian, but I am also proficient in Spanish and French.
My average translation/copywriting volume is around 2500 words a day, depending on the topic and the type of text.
I am proficient in new technologies and I easily learn how to use new applications and translation tools. Moreover, I am familiar with HTML and XML codes and I am comfortable working with variables or any sort of encodings.
