Tracking, Dispatch and Routing Management for Trend Transport
Efficiently manage tracking, dispatch, and routing operations for truck drivers handling pickups
and deliveries at Trend Transport. The role involves coordinating with drivers, contacting thirdparty logistics (3PL) carriers for shipment tracking, and booking Full Truck Load (FTL)
shipments from the west coast to the east coast of the USA. Communication with drivers and
carriers will be primarily through calls, emails, and chat platforms to ensure seamless logistics
operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispatch and Routing:
- Coordinate the dispatch of truck drivers for pickups and deliveries according to scheduled
routes and customer requirements.
- Optimize routing efficiency to minimize transit times, fuel costs, and environmental impact
while maximizing delivery accuracy.
Driver Communication and Support:
- Serve as the main point of contact for truck drivers, providing instructions, route updates, and
support throughout their journeys.
- Monitor driver activities, maintain communication to ensure adherence to schedules, and
address any issues or delays promptly.
Shipment Tracking and Coordination:
- Contact 3PL carriers to track shipments in transit, ensuring real-time visibility of cargo
location and status updates.
- Coordinate with carriers to resolve any issues related to delays, rerouting, or exceptions that
may impact delivery schedules.
FTL/PTL Booking and Logistics Coordination:
- Manage the booking process for Full Truck Load (FTL) and Partial Truck Load (PTL)
shipments from the west coast to the east coast of the USA.
- Negotiate rates with carriers, arrange transportation logistics, and ensure compliance with
regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
Customer and Carrier Relationship Management:
- Maintain positive relationships with customers by providing excellent service, resolving
inquiries, and addressing concerns related to logistics operations.
- Cultivate strong partnerships with 3PL carriers to optimize service levels, negotiate favorable
terms, and ensure reliable transportation services.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Document all dispatch activities, shipment tracking updates, FTL and PTL bookings, accurate
BOL details and description, and communications with drivers and carriers accurately in the
company's logistics management system.
- Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, fleet
utilization, and cost efficiencies to evaluate operational effectiveness.
Skills:
Logistics Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of dispatch operations, routing optimization,
and logistics management practices.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact
with truck drivers, 3PL carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to analyze logistics challenges, identify solutions, and
implement proactive measures to ensure smooth operations.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in tracking shipments, managing
documentation, and adhering to compliance regulations.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with logistics software systems (e.g., TMS, GPS tracking)
and proficiency in using communication tools (calls, emails, chat platforms) effectively.
