Clients & Promotions Management Director 2008 The increasing importance of promotions and customer data in retail was the motivation to implement an integrated approach transversal to all business units. Setting the promotions management and customer data knowledge practices and team was a challenge given the traditional independent approach of each business unit. Business Development Director (fresh food commercial department) 2006 – 2008 Company identified the opportunity to revamp fresh business areas and thus grow its market share to fair share levels. Reporting to the Commercial Director and working with business units, marketing, store development and own brands teams, and with external partners my role was to coordinate the fresh food businesses transformation program. Senior Brand Manager 2005 – 2006 Having successfully launched and consolidated Continente Online market position, was challenged to join marketing department as Continente brand manager and contribute to improve brand evaluation and sales in a year when a rebranding would occur. Main Projects & Results: • • • Coordinated Rebranding of all Continente stores (less than 1 week) – managing marketing and operations teams and external partners to identify, execute and install new logo images in all stores. Head of Continente Online 2002 – 2005 Completed the e-commerce setup of main Sonae retail banners the focus turned into streamlining operations and consolidating Continente Online as e-groceries leader in Portugal. Leading marketing, site management, customer service and logistics teams in a total of more than 120 people distributed by 12 locations. Achieved a positive ebitda from 2003 onwards. Head of Business Development (e-commerce) 2001 Following Continente Online operations kick off the challenge was to continue its expansion both in terms of local reach as in term of channels and start up e-commerce in other banners. Continued innovating in Continente Online through the setup of store in interactive tv platform, developing specialized online stores. Expanded Sonae retail online presence managing the startup of Worten (consumer electronics) and Vobis (computers) online operations. e-commerce Project Manager 2000 Having joined the team responsible for the startup of e-commerce at Sonae as representative of Management Planning and Control for the business plan definition soon the scope grew to become the Project Manager acting as deputy Project Director. A complete start up adventure. Using technology to change the way people shop. Working with 6 external partners. Main Projects & Results: • Operations started as defined within 8 months – business plan and value proposal definition, it platform selection, logistics and customer service processes definition and team selection. Controller & Project Manager 1999 – 2000 In a path towards business management, was challenged to integrate Management Planning & Control department to consolidate controlling practices in the new Category Management organization. Reporting to MP&C Director and leading a team. Overseeing 25 business units (both food and non-food). Main Projects & Results: • • Contributed to value creation through permanent challenge of commercial directors and teams implementing planning and control practices with category managers (5 departments / 25 business units) including annual planning process (categories annual strategy and tactical planning; annual budget), business performance monitoring and activities plan execution monitoring. To better support commercial decisions led, in collaboration with information systems and commercial teams led the redesign, development and implementation of the new management system. Information Systems Manager 1998 – 1999 Member of small team responsible for the setup of a new era in the information systems at Sonae Distribuição following the spin-off of the previous department.
