CEO/ACTIVE UNDERWRITER Verto Syndicate 2689 (London) - The syndicate was established to underwrite treaty reinsurance contracts, sourcing business via reinsurance brokers leveraging long standing marketing relationships of the Underwriting team. Peter was responsible for the Underwriting and operational Performance of this Lloyd’s syndicate start-up. Key skills and achievements here included; ➢ Started the business from just an idea and grew it to become a highly successful and reputable company. Despite difficult trading conditions, the project was completed on time and to budget, 1 ➢ Oversaw the approval and implementation process and the achievement of Lloyd’s minimum standards, ➢ Recruited a core team of 8 talented staff members starting a business from scratch, ➢ Developed a book of treaty reinsurance of $350m in challenging trading conditions, ➢ Personally sourced approximately $220m of the business capital and raised an additional $70m of capital to compensate for a shortfall brought on by an underperforming stakeholder, ➢ Execution ratios for sourced businesses stood at 90%, while take-up ratios stood at 85%, ➢ Maintained low expense ratios to keep to the spirit of the business mantra. Key skills and achievements here included; ➢ A Member of the Retrocession Committee, ➢ Responsible for the company successfully advancing into 7 new lines of business, ➢ An integral member of the Company Executive Committee, helping to promote mutual support and clear communications to ensure a clear understanding of aims and goals, ➢ Developed and managed several successful Growth Strategies, including New Lines of Business and the establishment of two new offices in Sydney and Zurich, ➢ Acted as the Underwriting Referral Officer for the London, Sydney and Zurich offices. ➢ Developed the reinsurance portfolio and the enactment of the branches underwriting guidelines and procedures, ➢ Performed interviews for numerous positions within the branch, including own position. Key skills and achievements here included; ➢ Developed and maintained business opportunities which fell within the group business model. This led to being given sole responsibility for handling all activities with respect to North American US Broker business and London Company market business.
