I graduated from the University of the West Indies with a BA in Linguistics in 2018. I currently reside in London.
In terms of professional experience, I have worked in customer service and administrative assistant positions in a number of companies, cumulating to approximately 5 years of experience. These positions often included data entry, coordinating training programmes, relaying information to customers and assisting them with any difficulties, minute-taking, editing and proofreading, and other office assistant duties. Recently, I have also done light website design, some graphic design (using Canva) for posters and infographics and created handbooks and workbooks for primary school level students. In a number of my roles I wore many hats and executed tasks in areas often outside my job description, but which allowed me to have a significant role in the functioning of the company. I performed these roles in the private and public sectors and for non-profit organizations.
In a volunteer capacity, I have performed editing and proofreading for individuals for website information, scripts and proposals. I have also transcribed audio recordings to text, a practice I performed often as part of my degree, as well as handwritten text to digital text for a local author. I have been complimented on my meticulousness and professionalism in these areas.
As a person, I find myself enjoying and being good at playing support roles, sustaining the team, and problem-solving. I enjoy seeing a project come to fruition. I value good, open communication and strive to ensure that I act with intelligence, inclusive of emotional intelligence.
I also have a passion for language, writing, and creative ventures. I am a hobbyist writer, and love seeing the different ways that stories and feelings can be conveyed in different media.
