I am first, a teacher. I have taught in various formats—online and face to face—for over 23 years. I began teaching online when it first began to grow in popularity 16 years ago. As technology has changed, so has online education, and as a result, I am constantly growing and changing my teaching methods to keep my students engaged and learning.
I have taught students from the University level, middle school public school system, and even elementary children in China through a non-profit private institution.
I have taught online college level composition and reading for over 15 years. I am strong in discussion threads with my students, am responsive in a timely manner and return feedback and grades to students quickly so they can continue to grow.
If I do need to create my own lessons for the course, I am a lesson plan magician. I am creative, and often within just a few class meetings online can build rapport with students many miles away. When teaching online, I have experience with creating an engaging lesson plan, executing it to the students with direction, focus and fun, and providing encouragement and feedback to help them grow. I feel that online classes should mirror traditional settings and encourage a lot of interaction, sharing, and not be solely lecture based.
In addition to my experience teaching and creating lesson plans, I am dedicated and reliable. I care about my students’ success, and I look forward to teaching them every time we meet.
My experience, education, and passion for teaching make me a strong candidate for this position. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Margie Askins
