Katja Emilia Kumpulainen

Hi there, I'm Katja, a Finnish girl currently based in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

I’m a bilingual, native speaker of both Finnish and Russian and I’m also a fluent speaker of English. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian language and Finnish-Russian translations with focus on translation, transcribing, and proofreading work in my main languages (Russian-Finnish, English-Finnish), but also Finnish to Finnish. I am most interested in committing into long-term projects, but I am also looking for short-term projects if need be.

For the past year I’ve been working on various different projects as a freelance translator, proofreader and transcriber, with my main working languages being English and Finnish. I’ve been translating websites, product descriptions, ads and other marketing content and proofreading the texts. One of the biggest projects was translating and localizing a language learning app from English to Finnish.

I’ve also done some transcriptions and worked on a speech recognition project as a Finnish transcriber where I was doing audio-to-text transcribing, correcting transcriptions and adding annotations.

Previously I’ve worked for many years in the Customer Service and Support field not only for Finland's biggest telecommunication company, but also I’ve gained experience from the USA where I was working in Customer service within the Hospitality Industry for several months.

I do have excellent communication skills, and I am punctual and goal oriented, so I think this kind of project would be perfect for me. It is easy for me to work independently and reach the deadlines, but I do enjoy teamwork as well.
