Joshua Ida Samson

Mr. Samson is a Strategy Management and Development Consultant; and a Community Engagement Expert who has vast experience in Grants, compliant and subcontract management, projects and Programme Management and project monitoring, and evaluation skills with more than 28 years of experience working in Nigeria. Mr. Samson holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Educational Leadership with a major in Human Resource Development (April 1986) and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Industrial Arts Education (December 1985) both obtained from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, USA. Mr. Samson is a Fellow at The Institute of Management Consultants – FIMC-Nigeria and holds a Practicing License of the Institute – CMC.ABJ.2609.19. All of his life, he had his educational training in English language

His experiences include Subcontracts and grants administration, Institutional and Organizational capacity building and development, Managing Gender Equity, Equality, Empowerment and Social Inclusion by mainstreaming this concept into the organizational culture to increase equal opportunities for beneficiaries across all borders. He is experienced in HIV/AIDS/OVC project management, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Human Resources Management and Development, Policy analysis and development; Projects and programmes midterm review and evaluation; Strategic plans development and CSO capacity building and mentoring for sustainability.

His cross-cutting experiences working with international and bilateral organizations (USAID, DFID, the UN Theme Group) include Social Research to inform institutional Development and organizational practices, Institutional and Organizational capacity building/development, Gender mainstreaming in the education and development sectors, Projects Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Human Resources Management and Development, Policy analysis and development; Projects and programmes midterm review and evaluation; Strategic plans development and CSO capacity building, coaching and mentoring for sustainability.

He consulted for UNDP to investigate and write the Nigeria Country performance with regards to gender equity and equality in achieving MDGs 3 and 6 with particular reference to capturing the opinions of networks of women living with HIV/AIDS. This was a 25day consultancy which focused on desk reviews of existing reports/studies as well as consultations with institutions, organizations and various networks, stakeholders and individuals that could provide information on how Nigeria as a country performed in meeting the needs of the vulnerable groups as well as dealing with issues of gender and women empowerment towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

He developed the “Sustainable Community Engagement Strategy” for the National Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (NACA) and also developed the “Community Engagement Training Manual” to guide health workers’ engagement with persons living with HIV to improve uptake of HIV/AIDS and other health care services.
