Managing the Engineering Team to efficiently maintain all hotel operations such that safety, security, conversation, and compliance are ensured at the highest levels. Responsible for the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, including energy conservation. Responsible for the development of the Engineering Team and staying abreast of compliance regulations and procedures in the field of Engineering, as required for hotel standards. Specifically, performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
Lead the Engineering Team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules
Communicate with Housekeeping to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for Guest rooms and public areas
Develop systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of Guests and Team Members, as well as the proper conditions for plants, machinery, and property
Communicate with Government agencies to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations
Prepare Capital and Repairs and Maintenance budgets for Engineering
Perform daily checks around the hotel
Conduct lift emergency release procedures as required
Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment within the hotel

Responsible for the efficient running of the entire department in line with Hyatt International's Corporate Strategies and brand standards, whilst meeting employee, guest and owner expectations.
Responsible to assist the Director of Engineering in ensuring the efficient and economic operation of the Engineering Department in support of all other operating Departments, supplying services as required to the entire operation, and maintaining equipment, building, and grounds in optimum condition.
Respond to emergencies, and work with corporate maintenance on special remodeling projects or capital expenditure needs. Maintenance knowledge and trouble shooting ability with skills in painting, HVAC, MEP, carpentry, Firefighting and Fire Alarm System, equipment, and tool usage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operations and Administration of the Maintenance Department
Ensure that the maintenance department premises (plant, machinery, workshops, pump rooms, PABX rooms, Fire-Life and Safety control rooms) and surroundings are always kept in a perfect state of tidiness.
Plan and implement a preventive maintenance program for all buildings, equipment and machinery as prescribed by the manufacturers and/or as required to maintain the standards of the hotel operation.
Through sound management, ensure provision of uninterrupted building essential services (water, electricity, sewage removal, and firefighting equipment) to entire hotel premises.
Plan and supervise execution of day-to-day repairs and up keeping of buildings, installations, equipment and machinery as instructed by the management and owners.
Ensure prompt and efficient customer service at all times by adopting a proactive approach and through adequate supervision for the entire team and the department.
Design, implement and constantly improve Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency in the delivery of excellent service.
Follow-up on correct execution of works entrusted to subcontractors, AMC companies and suppliers on development projects.
Strictly observe all environmental statutory requirements and promote environmentally friendly policies and practices governed by Government and Hyatt Standards.
Confer with personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
Develop and implement quality control programs.
Keeping organized files of all documents related to the characteristics of operating system, installation, equipment or machinery. Log all information relative to energy consumption, preventive maintenance actions and repairs on all essential equipment (generator sets, water and sewage pumps, firefighting and Fire Suppression System and equipment, Fire Alarm and detections System, Security Systems – CCTV’s, Boilers Elevators) and other factors concerning operations, maintenance and safety aspect of the entire property.
2. Human Resources
Organize, deploy and supervise all maintenance staff under his direct supervision and coordinate with Human Resources Director on all staff related issues.
Through proper communication, ensure that staff members have all the information they require in order to provide excellent service at all times.
Ensure that the sections of the maintenance department have the appropriate staffing levels for efficient operations while achieving set employee productivity targets.
Constantly monitor staff morale to ensure that the personnel are kept in an appropriate state of discipline, motivation and commitment to the objectives of the organization at all times.
Ensure that the maintenance staff receive appropriate and adequate training, supervision and assistance in order to achieve the desirable level of performance in the all their tasks
Regularly appraise his immediate collaborators in order to feedback to them essential information to enable them to constantly improve their performance.
Keep records of staff hours of duty, absenteeism and sickness and notify the Human Resources Office.
Ensures Occupational Safety & Health Act, local health and safety codes, and company safety and security policy are met as well as the maintenance of safe work practices and observance of safety rules and precautions.
Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures.
3. Financial
Ensure that all financial policies and procedures are strictly adhered to at all times as regards purchasing and storage of materials and spare parts and payment to sub-contractors, suppliers and contracting companies.
Continually monitor and analyze electricity, water and fuel consumption levels in order to reduce wastage wherever possible and achieve excellent energy consumption results and update on the ECO track system under Hyatt head office review and verification.
Assist the management in budgeting for OPEX, FF&E and CAPEX.
Monitor and control expenses in order to remain within established budgets.
Review maintenance contracts and negotiate revision, costing and additions to contractual agreements with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
4. Reporting
Regularly participate in Management and Coordination Meetings organized by the General Manager or his representative as required.
Report on the administration and operation of the Maintenance Department on a regular basis as per established policies.
Act as Duty Manager as per the duty management roster.
Participate in cross-functional team’s set-up to work on special projects as and when required.

To perform, manage or supervise maintenance operation for exterior and interior facilities including electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating, cooling, structural, and other maintenance work necessary to maintain the property in optimum and efficient condition to the established standard within the agrees budgetary controls. Ensure Director of Engineering is kept fully aware of any relevant feedback from customers or other departments of matters relating to repairs and maintenance. To ensure adherence to the Hotel and Company, Health, Life and Safety policies and procedures thereby ensuring safety and comfort of the guest and staff.

Focus on the problems on the fire alarm systems of the Hotel and Villa with the help of the contracting company. Now for hotel, almost 95% finished and still working and modification going on some areas base on the civil defense requirements. For Villa, all related issues on the break glass have been rectified by replacing all installed old model MCP with New model.
Eliminate frequent breakage of the sewage and grease traps pipeline by simply modifying the pipeline, from UPVC pipe to SS pipe reducing the maintenance cost.
Received a recognition for Energy Saving Program Hosted by Kahramaa and Trashed
Certified Fire Brigade by the Qatar Civil Defense Authority.
Saving of 5% HLP consumption every year by exploring possibilities on areas where we can save further without compromising the daily operations. Some of the project are; replaced all incandescent bulbs to LED, MSB load balancing, BMS upgrade, Chiller Plant Management System implementation, Installation of Sensor taps in all the public areas, including kitchen and toilets; installation of timer for the irrigation system, and most important is Energy Saving awareness and campaign.
Saving of about 20% cost of every year for the all the Annual Maintenance Contract that are already in place.
