WORK
EXPERIENCE
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory - N.I.F. Target Fabrication Group
Process Improvement Engineering Intern
Lead design of experiment to quantify planar target assembly process uncertainties
o Objective to achieve repeatable/predictable sub-micron glue thickness between
target components
o Experimentally test glue dispensing and metrology limitations & uncertainties
o Append existing body of knowledge & increase fabrication groups awareness of
primary factors restricting further assembly improvements using current processes
Validated metrology codes by cross-sectioning targets and measuring glue thicknesses
using white light interferometer and scanning electron microscope
Add temperature control to Planar Physics Package assembly station
Specialization
& Interests
Robotics: Solid grasp on knowledge and use of common robotics architectures, tools
(ROS), microcontroller coding, interfacing with actuators, linear and nonlinear estimation
techniques (Kalman Filtering/State Observer), dynamic system modeling (mechanical &
electrical), numerical simulation, theory and application of optimization (Grad. Desc.,
Newton’s Method, and genetic algorithms, SQP), and familiar with machine learning
techniques, and currently studying reinforcement learning, with application to autonomous
drone systems.
Plath Planning: Familiar with optimization and incremental search path planning
algorithms (A*, D*lite, RRT*, Convex Feasible Set) for use in offline or online
Control Systems: Deep academic emphasis in theory and use of common controllers
(PID, Slide Mode, MPC, Feedback Linearization, and robust optimal control)
SLAM: Developing understanding of fundamental theory and application of SLAM and its
applications. Recent exposure to wide variety of algorithms (EKF_Slam, FastSlam,
SlamDunk). Currently pursue further interests in exploring loop closure and large dynamic
environments, in real-time.
PROJECTS
ROS Simulation Testing Different Path Planners in Large Indoor Environment
Utilized readily available “turtlebot2” robot model
Via Gazebo, constructed large 3d Model of indoor environment with many walls and doors
Wrote custom launch scripts to generated way points, implement specific path planning
algorithm, and record simulation data for final comparison.
RESEARCH
Agricultural Plant Identification via Machine Learning using Nvidia Jetson Nano 2020
Develop drone platform to mount Jetson Nano payload & ZED stereo camera
Developed data collection scripts which record RGB and depth images while UAV is deployment
Currently, developing machine learning classifier to use RGB and depth images to identify healthy
plants from weeds.
