PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am actively involved, beginning in earnest in 2025, in supporting biomedical science, bioengineering, and
STEM projects led by U.S. scientists that have components in the Caribbean and/or South America. My goal
is to connect with relevant Latin American researchers and secure or foster ongoing funding from the NIH
and other funding agencies, such as the Wellcome Trust. I aim to create a network of biomedical researchers
for collaboration in research, grant funding opportunities, and grant writing—particularly for U.S.
researchers interested in projects and collaborations in the Caribbean and South America, with an initial
focus on Colombia.

As an NIH program officer and research administrator at research institutions, I fostered interdisciplinary
research models across departments, schools, hospitals, and other organizations to address critical
biomedical challenges.
