· As an NIH program officer and research administrator at research institutions, I fostered interdisciplinary research models across departments, schools, hospitals, and other organizations to address critical biomedical challenges.
· I enjoyed establishing a collaborative intellectual environment focused on cutting-edge technology and applied the latest genomics tools.
· I participated in teams that worked to redefine the boundaries of science and biomedical research.
· In several NIH interdisciplinary committees, I provided support to Principal Investigators (PIs) in research compliance and financial management, handling both pre- and post-award administration tasks.
· I reported to the Dean, Vice President, and President’s offices, the Office of Sponsored Research, as well as to funding agency branch directors in my role as a team manager.
· Throughout this work, I developed and applied excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
· I assisted busy PIs in preparing complex NIH program/center proposals (P and U types), some of which involved sub-awards.
· I frequently collaborated with faculty, sponsors, and internal teams on all pre-award processes.
· I was able to effectively communicate with research administration officials at affiliated hospitals.
· Additionally, I provided long-term post-award support to the PIs in my portfolio, managing NIH RPPRs, financial reporting, and compliance.
· I consistently served as a faculty liaison with sponsors, ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local compliance requirements and document submissions.
· I followed NIH rules and regulations for budget building and coordinated with faculty on annual budget projections.
· With over 10 years of experience in federal and non-federal grant administration, I have developed familiarity with NIH’s federal grants management systems, including eRA Commons, Grants.gov, the NIH ASSIST tool, and other research administration software tools.
· I have also developed the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in the fast-paced environment of grant administration.
