Experience highlight
One of my key accomplishments has been to drive the product roadmap for Emirates Skywards One of the worlds leading loyalty programs. I Lead all production management aspects of the
roadmap including discovery, production and rollout on mobile/web while also making a 35 person
project team with varying disciplines and skill levels 100% agile/scrum compliant.
The challenge: was to try and get Emirates Airlines stakeholders from BA’s, Developers, Ecommerce directors to buy into rapid fire solutions using Agile/Scrum to keep the roadmap and
vision on track. The pushback was fear of not reaching milestone completion as well as quality of
releases that we were aiming to build out during that time period.
Solution: By guiding the PO’s, BA’s and Directors through a series of high velocity sprints with low
story points we were able to reach roadmap milestones with a higher degree of successful
releases. We invited them to user story sessions and regular scrum master ceremonies to exhibit
clear transparency but also educate the client in the methodology that was saving them time and
ultimately also cost.
Our small team of 6 people grew into 35 people and I was within the organization responsible for
making our way of work Agile/Scrum compliant within every project across 5 work streams. I did so
during lunch and learns, daily ceremonies and through my day to day with my PM’s and Scrum
Masters.
The above task came hand in hand with growing team capability by teaching and coaching my
recent hire PM’s in Agile/Scrum for faster delivery using sprint planning, User story sessions,
collaborative development, story point sessions, release planning, and project planning.
Each of these contributed to the ultimate function of the position: to facilitate collaboration,
encourage mindful work exercises amongst my team, complete tasks efficiently and completely,
and work intuitively always knowing the vision and the goal - while getting there as a team.
Result : Increased customer retention by 67% by redesigning the various sections across
the skywards app and Emirates Airlines booking flow.
