Clare Guya Onyango

I am a motivated and evolving technology professional with a growing background in software testing, coding, and cybersecurity. Currently, I work as a Software Test Engineer at Technobrain, where I am actively involved in daily testing activities such as logging bugs, validating functionality, and supporting onboarding processes. This role has sharpened my eye for detail and strengthened my ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and user-friendly solutions.

Alongside my QA experience, I am committed to broadening my technical skill set. I recently completed a cybersecurity fundamentals program with IBM Skills, gaining exposure to essential concepts in threat detection, network security, and digital safety. This training sparked my interest in the wider cybersecurity field, motivating me to participate in my first cybersecurity hackathon (D-World Road CTF 2025). Competing in challenges like forensics and web security taught me the importance of persistence, problem-solving, and thinking critically under pressure — skills I continue to build upon as I advance my career.

At the same time, I am pursuing a personal journey to strengthen my coding foundation. I started afresh with HTML and CSS, creating small but impactful projects such as a digital mood board website and a fashion-inspired design site. These projects allow me to explore minimalistic web design while building a practical portfolio that demonstrates both creativity and technical growth. My goal is to expand into JavaScript, Python, and C++ over the next two years, developing a diverse skill set that connects testing, coding, and security.

What drives me is the desire to grow into a well-rounded technology professional who can contribute meaningfully across different domains — from ensuring quality in software, to designing secure systems, to developing solutions that inspire innovation. I am especially passionate about encouraging more women to pursue careers in tech, and I aim to use my journey to show that resilience, curiosity, and consistency can open doors in this fast-changing industry.

In the next five years, I see myself mastering both QA and cybersecurity, while expanding into coding and system design. My vision is to be part of global technology leaders like Microsoft, where I can combine my testing expertise, growing cybersecurity knowledge, and coding skills to build secure, scalable, and user-centered digital solutions.
