I possess an extensive background in teaching athletic, challenging, and creative modern dance technique classes for beginning, intermediate, and professional-level dancers. Working for 16 years in Chicago and 11 in Boulder, CO, I continue to teach all levels and abilities, believing firmly that kinesthetic learning can be a vital tool for students to add to their daily studies and their growth as performing artists. As a writer, I have experience previewing live performing arts events for the now-defunct Examiner.com in Colorado. My job was to highlight upcoming performances, interview the participants, and list all pertinent information. EXPERIENCE Artistic Director/Choreographer/Dance Educator September 2004 -Current Cindy Brandle Dance Company | Boulder, CO ● In Chicago, I founded CBDC, a 501c3 organization, to explore socio-political themes through a multimedia modern dance lens. Combining live dance, dance-for-camera films, and collaborating with other artists, CBDC creates a rich tapestry of social justice-laced and compelling dance productions. Achievements since 2005: ● ● ● I have produced 13 evening-length concerts to critical acclaim. I have led hundreds of beginning/intermediate/advanced/professional-level modern dance classes as an arts educator. Through CBDC, I have created and curated the Boulder Contemporary Dance Festival for the past five seasons. Dance instructor December 2010 - Current Independent Contractor ● I lead beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Modern dance in Boulder for people of all ages and abilities in various private studios, festivals, and conferences. ● 1. 2. 3. My approach to dance instruction is threefold. Help students access their internal energetic flow to propel movement from the inside out. Assist dancers in refining their technique. Encourage creativity and expression through improvisation and exciting, athletic movement phrases. Choreographer and Co-Artistic Director January 1998 - April 2004 Chicago Moving Company | Chicago, IL ● Choreographer for the Chicago Moving Company presenting work at various Chicago Venues, such as the Harold Washington Library Theatre, The Gallery 37 Storefront Theatre, The Chicago Cultural Center, The Athenaeum Theatre, DanceChicago, Blue Rider Theatre, Links Hall. ● My choreographic work was presented also throughout Illinois and the Midwest and internationally in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, Brazil, and the Teatro de la Danza in Mexico City. Lead teacher January 1995 - January 2004 Chicago Moving Company | Chicago, IL ● For the Chicago Moving Company during in-school arts-education residencies for the Chicago Public School system as well as the surrounding suburbs. ● The Chicago Moving Company focuses primarily on integrating dance with each school's curriculum as well as aiding in the development of the classroom teacher's use of kinesthetic intelligence with their students. ● CMC also works with children of various physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities through their involvement with Gallery 37 “Schools” and “Connections” programs.
