CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECT
We live in a world where the technology is integrated into our daily lives. The communities spent more
and more time using the internet for work, education and socialising. For many cyber users, being
part of this cyber world is no longer a luxury, but a necessity. It is however, important for the cyber
communities to understand possible cyber threats associated with the use of cyber devices, such as
mobile phones and internet access. The project investigates the current cyber issues amongst
communities, specifically in the South Africa School environment. Provide them with essential
information on cyber security issues that they should be aware of when using internet or their mobile
phones. We envisage that this information will be a step towards growing a cyber-safety awareness
culture in South Africa to ensure that all cyber users understand the technology they use and know
how to use it safely. The underlining emphasis of the project focus on community engagement and
provided cyber safety solutions to uplift the knowledge and skills within a specific community. The
aim of the project is to develop cyber-safety awareness material that will improve cyber safety
awareness within the South African environment. The awareness material can include brochures,
workshops, pamphlets, games, etc.
