Armina Shafiee

From the early days of law school, surrounded by stacks of books on the philosophy and sociology of law, I knew I was drawn to the complexities and challenges of this field. My academic journey has taken me from a deep dive into media, e-commerce, and business law, to specializing in the nuances of commercial advertising law. I thrive on discovery and am always eager to learn, never shying away from new experiences that push my boundaries.

Currently, I’m pursuing a PhD in Public Law, building on a strong foundation laid during my Master’s in Communications Law, where I not only excelled academically but also engaged deeply with topics like media law, human rights, and intellectual property. My dissertation focused on the prohibitions and limitations of advertising rights in Iran, which was a significant milestone, leading to top honors and a deeper understanding of the intersection between law and commerce.

Professionally, I've had the privilege of working in diverse sectors—from tobacco at British American Tobacco to pharmaceuticals with Adorateb, and digital startups like Flightio. These roles have allowed me to apply my legal expertise in real-world settings, whether it’s drafting complex contracts, managing labor disputes, or creating comprehensive legal frameworks for emerging businesses. At Flightio, I had the unique opportunity to build a legal team from the ground up, crafting guidelines that touch on everything from environmental stewardship to children’s rights.

In addition to my professional work, I’m passionate about education and have been fortunate to teach Administrative and Media Law to undergraduate students, sharing my insights and helping shape the next generation of legal minds. My involvement extends to scientific reviewing and contributing to significant projects like a human rights encyclopedia, where I get to merge my love for research with practical impact.

Every experience, whether in the courtroom, the classroom, or behind a desk drafting contracts, fuels my passion for law. I’m driven by the belief that law is not just about rules and regulations, but about creating frameworks that enable progress, protect rights, and foster innovation. I’m excited about the future and look forward to continuing to grow, learn, and contribute to the legal field in meaningful ways.
