Education

LLM Master of Laws
The change of discipline from humanities to law has been extremely challenging but rewarding. Extensive focus on the area of employment law has enabled me to further understand the challenges faced by modern employers. My renewed studies have necessitated training myself in a new methodology of research as there has been an increase in dealing with primary source material such as case law and legislation which is ever changing and necessitates a strong level of organisation to stay up to date with.

BA (Hons) History
Studying at the UEA necessitated a strong requirement for clear and organised work engaging
extensively in individual and group research I developed solid organisation, prioritisation and project
management skills. My studies also promoted a high level of analysis, extensive research of the
subject material and a great attention to detail. Skills that are highly transferable & essential in a business environment.

Whilst at Culford I became a leading member of the school’s Audiovisual Department providing lighting and sound support to the school’s many musical and theatrical performances in a range of environments. I was responsible for:
Leading a team of 6 to deliver events against deadlines
Managing the equipment rental budget
Co-ordinating and chairing meetings between the team and school administration
This has developed in me a strong desire for a leadership position, managing and developing fellow
employees in a future career.
Employment
Self-Employed: January 2018 – Current
Since leaving Mendlesham Bakery at the end of 2017, I have aggressively been pursuing my dream of becoming a pilot. This has taken great advantage from the skills I have picked up in my working career. It is extremely important to meticulously plan before every flight to try and cover as many eventualities in-flight as possible. The workload of a single pilot operating in the congested airspace in the UK requires a level of flexibility and ability to adapt to constantly changing circumstances that not everybody is capable of showing. I achieved my private pilots licence in 2017, and relocated to Kenya to build flight hours in order to advance to more complex and commercially desirable ratings.
I have been supporting myself whilst studying in Kenya by offering technical support to the surrounding communities, with great success. Whilst operating on my own, I have successfully managed to build a client base of around 40 individuals. I advise on anything from initial installs of networking/computer hardware, to software support on individual machines. Much of the technical support I have been providing has been on machines and software that I am unfamiliar with, and required the discipline to teach myself how this new hardware functions, whilst not being detrimental to my pilot studies.
Mendlesham Bakery: November 2007 – November 2017
Mendlesham Bakery is a family owned and operated business at which I have been employed
in various positions for a number of years. My initial role involved operating the tills and dealing with
customers on a face-to-face basis, leading to a series of broader responsibilities including employing and training staff as well as managing their monthly rotas and payroll. Thereafter my job expanded to take a more active role in the financial side of the business. I quickly became solely responsible not only for sourcing and ordering stock but also for the day to day finances (reconciliation and banking) whilst continuing to manage the daily operations of the business.
During my time as operational manager, the business has grown from a relatively small village shop
to a bustling part of a nationally recognised retail franchise with an annual turnover of over £1/2m. This is in no small part down to the capability, skills and behaviours I have brought to the execution of my job. As a result this significant experience in dealing with staff, customers and finances as well as the demands of a retail environment would be of great benefit in evolving a career in any people-orientated environment.
Interests
Great interest in literature and the arts which led to a lengthy musical career in piano, viola as well as vocally; these activities enabled me to develop a skill for disciplined time management at an early age, as each activity was individually extremely time consuming! A keen member of the Air Training Corps (RAF Cadets) whilst at school developed a respect for authority tempered with a desire to advance myself. I am self-taught in computer building and customisation which showed me the importance of attention to detail, as any small mistake could ultimately cause a project to fail. I am also computer literate in advanced office skills, which I feel is important to advance in any career.
