Introduction
Werner Fismer is a South-African artist and illustrator residing in Cape Town. Fismer initially
worked freelance as a self-taught illustrator specializing in digital painting and mixed media
before enrolling at Ruth Prowse School of art. In 2018 Werner graduated with distinction from
Ruth Prowse School of Art with a diploma in Fine Art (NQF6).
He is friendly, personable, self-motivated, eager to learn and passionate about doing good
meaningful work.
Exhibitions and Events
✚ In 2018 Werner produced a body of work in various media (including sculpture, mixedmedia illustration, painting, digital mixed-media and animation) that became part of the
Ruth Prowse Grad Show in November. Werner worked with his peers throughout the
year to raise funds, to organize and to set up the exhibition.
✚ In September of 2018 Werner’s animation work was included in the Replay.gif exhibition
at the Playtopia interactive arts festival in Cape Town.
✚ In March of 2018 Werner assisted in setting up a pop-up exhibition at Ruth Prowse
School of Art which included his own work.
✚ In September of 2017 Werner assisted in setting up the Spring Exhibition at Ruth Prowse
School of Art which included his own work.
✚ In August of 2017 the Block Show at Ruth Prowse School of Art included work by Werner.
✚ In June and July of 2017 a submission by Werner was included in the inreallife.gif
exhibition at Knext Art Gallery in Cape Town.
✚ In May of 2017 a sculpture by Werner title “Teapot” was included in the “One Week”
group show at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town, curated by Brett Seiler.
✚ In May of 2017 the Sessions exhibition at Ruth Prowse School of Art included work by
Werner.

✚ In March of 2017, Werner assisted Italian artist-in-residence Valentina Colella in the
creation of artwork that was exhibited at the Everard Read gallery in Cape Town.
✚ In 2016 Werner was awarded a prize for academic achievement in essay writing on the
subject of Art History from Ruth Prowse School of Art.
✚ In 2015 three prints of his digital paintings were selected for and sold as part of the
Northern Cape Artists Exhibition at the William Humphrey’s Art Gallery in Kimberley.

✚ Diploma in Fine Art (NQF6) completed in 2018 at Ruth Prowse School of Art,
graduated with distinction.
