Tom Brierley

I'm a British creative front end developer with 6 years agency experience. Coming from a UI/UX design background I have a passion for clean and innovative development and like to combine my technical skills with my design eye to craft websites, applications and user interfaces with pixel perfect precision. I love to work on highly visual and interactive projects where the end product is as beautiful as the code behind it.

Now for the technical part! I like to use modern front end workflows such as Gulp & Grunt, utilise CSS preprocessors such as SCSS/SASS/LESS and templating tools such as Handlebars, Jekyll & Assemble to create well crafted, maintainable and responsive websites. With front end technologies moving fast, I see every project as an opportunity to implement and refine the development workflow. I have strong JavaScript and jQuery skills and use an OOP approach on most projects. I also have knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks including Angular, Angular 2 and React.

My backend language of choice is PHP and have in depth knowledge of custom theme and plugin development for many PHP based platforms including Wordpress, Magento & Expression Engine. I also have knowledge of building web applications using OOP PHP and Laravel. 

Having worked in a number of large development agencies I’m also well drilled in common development practises including command line Git and Agile methodologies.
