Initially engaged to write an assessment on an aging Legacy application written in 1999 in VB5.
The purpose of the assessment was to determine the best approach for upgrading the system.
Presented assessment to Division, Department, and IT Management in April of 2013.
Assessment was approved and I was further retained to write the RFP for upgrading the
system.
Investigated options for upgrading including in-house resources, outsourcing development, and
a combination. Introduced BPM technology which, when further explored, proved to be the most
cost-effective solution for moving forward.
Managed the RFP process through creation, approval, out for bid, bid review process, vendor
selection and choosing a BPM Vendor (Pega Systems) as the vendor of choice.
Was retained to be the Project Manager for the $2 million project. Introduced both BPM and
Agile Scrum to the Division. Currently engaged as Scrum Master – Project Manager for the
development of the solution. As of February 2017, we have completed 16 Sprints with an
estimated 10 to 12 Sprints remaining and an anticipated Go Live of late 2017.

Worked with organization to develop and implement a comprehensive 404 Compliance framework for
General Computer Controls. Specific activities included:

Mapped ISACA and COSO General Computer Control guidance to specific requirements
for the company. Developed a standard of General Computer Controls to establish the
overall framework.

Controls (ITGCCs).

Walked through each financially relevant application to identify areas of highest risk in

system with outsourced hosting in Canada and application deployment in over sixty blood plasma
collection centers across the U.S.
Working with several functional areas and cross company entities, analyzed audit findings and
prepared response to observations in infrastructure management, SLA monitoring/management
and General Computer Controls.
404 Compliance and General Computer Controls
404 Compliance Project pre-planning, PWC Financial Audit tracking and remediation including
being principle liaison between pharmaceutical company and PWC financial auditors tracking
information requests, responses to audit observations and developing remediation plans for
deficiencies noted; planning for 404 compliance project by review of 2006/2007 PWC Audit
findings, E&Y Gap Analysis on financial applications, internal audit and quality audit
documentation; finalized General Computer Controls; create and finalize GCC standard for the
organization; provided key input to the quarterly self-assessment report indicating status of 404

processes are working properly and provide audit/assessment of implemented solutions;
managed the Assessment/Audit of the proposed security provided by Siemens post-transition to
ensure business needs and requirements with regards to Information Technology System
Controls are met. Deliver assessment/audit analysis documentation.; delivered audit baseline,
templates, checklists, etc. to verify our security controls post implementation; designed and
implement an auditing process/system consisting of monitoring tools, processes and reports to
periodically audit and assess the information security program at Talecris as an operational
function on-going; created a data asset classification process to properly identify the value and
importance of various forms of data across the organization; created and deployed a user
awareness framework for IT Security Controls processes and procedures; work with Financial
and other functional groups to implement the Security Controls to meet Talecris System Controls
requirements and expectations balanced against business requirements and cost; ensured the

Transition of support from internal to outsource
Program Management for transition from Bayer Corporate Services (Bayer Central IT) outsourced
to Siemens Business Systems (remote data center) as part of the divestiture of Bayer Biological
Products to new company Talecris Biotherapeutics.
Included capturing requirements, coordinating design and deployment for all servers, several
hundred applications and infrastructure design and support to Talecris as a stand-alone company
with Siemens Business Systems providing overall outsourced support; ordered, managed receipt,
configuration and deployment of, over 200 new (Windows and AIX) servers; negotiated contracts
for purchase of all servers and infrastructure components; ordered, tracked and managed
implementations including firepass, bluecoat, RSA, Cisco, checkpoint firewall, etc.
Work with over twenty functional areas within the Bayer IS organization to move critical
infrastructure services to Talecris and coordinate the assumption of support from the new service
provider Siemens.
DNS, Active Directory structure creation and deployment, Lotus Notes mail system, file and print,
DMZ and firewall perimeter security controls (checkpoint firewall, bluecoat proxy, RSA, anti-virus
and laptop firewall), Citrix environment, VPN remote concentrators including changing contract
for dial-up component of remote access, SMTP mail including outsourced mail filtering and spam
control, redeployment of all web applications and services under new domain, robust, enterprisewide Oracle clustered environment including moving all Oracle databases and upgrades from
Version 6,7, and 8 to Oracle 9i, wireless transition to Talecris own authentication and control, PC
and Server support and all associated processes and procedures.
Backup solution for LIMS system
Project Manager for implementation of backup solution for RTL LIMS (Laboratory Information
Management System)
Captured requirements, worked with technical internal staff and external application vendor to
design a complete “warm spare” backup solution for the RTL LIMS system; writing design and
validation documentation based on the GAMP methods; writing and executing validation protocols
including, but not limited to, Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, validation reports
and summaries.
The creation of several SOPs for their system and other new operational elements; The updating
of several installation and technical documents to reflect the new configuration and system
installation.
Desktop deployment of WinXP to nine hundred workstations
Pre-project planning, estimating and scope documentation for a site-side deployment of Windows
XP to over nine hundred desktops; Defining core team roles and responsibilities; established
communications plan and finalizing project master schedule for implementation; reduced overall
cost of project from over $1 million to less than $400K.
Web Portal qualification/validation
Project Manager for Web Portal Qualification/Validation project as part of the Plumtree 5.0
upgrade Program.
Includes preparing to Validate/Qualify the Plumtree 5.0 Web Portal to allow GxP data to be
presented via portlets; providing necessary documentation and facilitation to enable compliance
determination; defining documentation set and process required for program via the
organization’s quality system; pre-project planning, estimating, and scope definition.

Web application testing, procedures, and process for Plumtree web applets
Portfolio & Change Management with ITIL processes.
Create and develop processes and establish a system of policies and SOPs for the IT
organization.
Duties included creating the documentation structure for IT Policies and SOPs, capturing current
processes in SOPs per ITIL and COBIT standards, and creating new processes and capture in
SOPs.
Implemented new processes including Portfolio Management, Change Control, ITIL Best
Practices (Service Management and Service Support)
Staff augmentation member of the Project Services Group providing Project Management,
Portfolio Management and Process Management for the IT organization at the Bayer, Clayton
manufacturing facility.

IT Infrastructure SAP Program Manager
Overall program management for IT SAP Infrastructure project at Bayer Clayton facility:
Responsible for six subprojects: Enterprise Systems Management, SAP Desktop, Local Area
Network, Wide Area Network, Physical Cabling and DHCP/DNS. Assistant Pharmaceutical
Division Project Lead
Overall program management responsibilities for a $2 million, 18-month SAP Infrastructure
Project to prepare all Bayer, North Carolina sites for SAP deployment.
IT Infrastructure Y2K Project Lead
Overall project management for IT Y2K project at Bayer Clayton facility. Responsible for four
areas: Network Servers & Infrastructure, Desktop PCs and Applications, Site Communications,
and Site Products and Databases.
Position requirements:
Established and achieved both tactical and strategic objectives; influenced and tasked team
members, including outside direct chain of command, to accomplish objectives; demonstrated
ability to operate autonomously while maintaining alignment with overall department
objectives; high frustration and chaos tolerance level to adapt to changing demands.
Project accomplished all major deliverables and met all significant milestones with
expenditures reflecting a high value to cost ratio and ultimately project deliverables and
methodologies cited as positive examples for other corporate entities to emulate.
Coordinating the installation of a separate Y2K test network including servers, infrastructure
equipment and PCs on a separate domain. Network consisted of two NT servers, one UNIX
server, several hubs, approx. a dozen workstations, and an ATM connection to multiple sites;
managed the sub-project of inventory, assessment, remediation, and deployment of all network
infrastructure equipment at Bayer NC sites (Clayton, Raleigh, NCSU and RTP). Approx. one
hundred network devices; managing a sub-project of inventory, assessment, remediation, and
deployment of all telephone equipment at Bayer NC sites (Clayton, Raleigh, NCSU and RTP.
Manage a sub-project of scanning all file servers for spreadsheets and database with possible
Y2K problems included assessing different scanning software tools, purchasing tools,
implementing scanning plan, and scheduling scanning of servers.
