Experience
Presence Orb
Founder & CEO
March 2013 - Present
Greater San Diego Area
As the founder of Presence Orb I worked on the creation of the
Presence Orb analytics platform utilizing C#, Python, T-SQL and
embedded Linux to capture probe TCP requests, collate in SQL
DW and transform this information into customer analysis. This
same code now supports over 5000 capture endpoints and 2.5
Billion data points per day. Presence Orb interfaces with a
number of end points including an Android & iPhone library for
marketing engagement.
Stickman Mobile LTD
Founder & CEO
Aug 2012 - Present
North Yorkshire, UK
As a freelance Android developer I worked on a number of
internal development projects interfacing with industrial systems
to control and manage the production of measurement
instruments. Additionally, I am currently working on the rework of
an Android application as well as server enhancement for a smart
thermostat brand (Heatmiser) in the UK.
Experience
Simply Good Technologies
Android Lead & Solution developer
February 2010 - July 2012 (2 years 6 months)
Toronto, Canada
As Android development lead at Simplygood it was my job to help
define how a number of Android applications would be
developed. Working with designers to ensure optimal user
experience and attending daily stand-ups, helping to refine and
report upon priorities and taking responsibility for a team of
developers to upper management and clients. Projects included
the creation of Canadian Tire’s first mobile Android application,
code which is used to this day.
I additionally consulted on the development of a number of LAMP
based server components required to accompany the Android,
Blackberry and iPhone applications. This not only contained the
mobile development stand point but systems architecture & scale
considerations across the entire platform.
Polar (formerly Polar Mobile)
Android Developer
February 2009 - February 2010 (1 year 1 month)
Toronto, Canada
Android & Blackberry developer working on mobile development
such as CNN Money & Time magazine.
I worked as one of the first Android engineers within Polar
Mobile, establishing the team and producing many of the first
applications for publishers such as Conde Nast. This included
CNN, Time Magazine, Vogue and many others. Being at the
emergence of Android as a platform has given me a deep
appreciation and understanding for its development and insight
into the limitations and “gotchas” which can often exist within
early versions of a product.
Experience
Royal Bank of Scotland
Software Engineer
May 2004 - December 2008 (4 years 8 months)
London, UK
Managed and developed high volume trade reconciliation
systems for the futures and options department for both
European and North America. Working in C,C++ & C# I
progressed from component development to complete system
design and development in just under 5 years. I was frequently
addressing technical and business representatives in a number
of projects across the bank and became adept at translating
business & technical requirements to work items for myself and
other team members to undertake.
Microsoft
Software engineer
May 2002 - May 2004 (2 years 1 month)
London, UK
Initially hired as a 6 month intern at Microsoft I was offered a full
time role to remain at Microsoft and work on proof of concept
developments utilizing Microsoft platforms for banking
customers. This involved a number of high-volume data proof of
concepts utilizing SQL & C# whilst simultaneously completing
my degree as a correspondence student. This experience
instilled a work ethic and ability to balance workload which is
hard to replicate or teach without such an experience.
