About

I will be a bit different here, instead being very formal and talking about my skills and diplomas, I will first tell my story in a fast pace :)

I’m originally from Brazil. I’ve always been in love with technology since I was a little boy, in fact, I got my first job when I was 13, a part-time at the local Design Agency. At 16 I was leading the team of the company I was working at, during this period I’ve led many projects and I’ve learn pretty much everything I could, from animations (Flash at that time :p) to mockups and HTML/CSS.

As I’m from a very small countryside city in Brazil you can imagine that working with technology there wasn’t the most exciting thing for someone that young, so at 18 I decided to move to the US and see what I could do there. That’s when things changed for me, I was no longer working with basic websites. Just a few months after arriving in Boston I was lucky to be working with some of the coolest startups inside the MIT.

I was hired by a MIT company where I was taking care of design and also the front-end development, it was just amazing besides the hard times as any bootstrapped company faces.

In 2014 I decided to leave the US. I kept my job working remote and then I started to travel more and get to know different countries and cultures.

2015 was the year I went back to freelancing as the company I was working for unfortunately was unable to give me the career growth I needed. After a few months freelancing, the projects started to get bigger and complex, I realized I had to hire some people to help me out with backend development. When I noticed I had a full-team working with me. I got this big project (Kanler) where I was going to commit the next 3 years of my life. The company is from California and they wanted me to design and develop the technology they wanted to use in the future.

2016 I see myself living between Latvia and Ukraine with a team of 24 people working remotely on this big project. Yes, it was stressful :D but I loved the experience and I started to see design with different eyes.

As the project was completed, I decided to have a break to recharge the batteries. Now since the beginning of 2018 I’m freelancing and looking for new opportunities.

Alright, so this is my story, a bit of adventure while working as a designer.

As I mentioned before, besides I’m a designer I can engage with HTML/CSS development and help the developers with that. I’m also ok with taking management tasks if necessary.

My preferred tools are Sketch, Invision, Flinto, Slack, Skype, Trello/Jira/Asana.

Thank you!

Best,

Thiago.
