My writing chops came the old-school way: on the city desk at a newspaper. My assignments ranged from murder trials to business stories. At USA Today, I was a sports writer. At The Associated Press, I was a stringer for food and feature wire stories. At The New York Times, I was a national stringer covering everything from the surfing culture in Hawaii to Hurricane Katrina.
Then I got a job at one of the nation’s largest pediatric hospitals and wrote about diseases I could barely pronounce. I interviewed scientists and had to make sense of their discoveries in terms consumers could understand. I interviewed more than 150 patient families for video stories.
Suffice it to say, I am not afraid of having anything thrown at me. I approach stories the same way. I look for compelling angles, heartfelt connections, ways to reach the audience and ways to reach strategic goals.
I am a storyteller, a visual thinker and an expressive writer. I have a background in both journalism and graphic design. I started the video team at Cincinnati Children’s and now funnel and produce internal and external videos from across the medical center. My favorite stories to do are patient stories because I can make a connection and make people feel something when the project is complete.
I am innovative and collaborative, and I could help you develop smart content strategies.
