About

I am an environmental scientist and research scholar specializing in wildlife ecology, marine science, and community-based conservation. Over the past four years, I have built a career that bridges academic research, field ecology, and grassroots environmental action. My journey reflects a consistent passion for protecting biodiversity, engaging communities, and supporting climate resilience.

My research experience includes serving as a Project Associate in ISRO’s OceanSAT-3 programme, where I contributed to marine biodiversity monitoring through field sampling, cruise-based research, and environmental data analysis. I also worked under a DBT-funded project developing high-density copepod culture systems for sustainable aquaculture. These projects enhanced my technical expertise in ecological monitoring, laboratory analysis, and environmental assessment.

Beyond research, I have significant experience as an Environmental Educator with the Pitchandikulam Forest Unit of the Auroville Foundation, where I conducted biodiversity surveys, facilitated eco-literacy programs, and worked closely with schools and rural communities. This role deepened my skills in environmental communication, community outreach, and participatory conservation.

I have also collaborated with the Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) and the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, participating in wildlife censuses and bird monitoring programs. These experiences developed my field-based expertise in species identification, wildlife tracking, and habitat mapping, while reinforcing my commitment to citizen science.

My technical skills include wildlife identification, environmental impact assessment, GIS mapping (ArcGIS, QGIS), and statistical analysis (SPSS, GraphPad). I am adept at using both field instruments (light traps, camera traps, mist nets) and laboratory equipment (microscopy, spectrophotometry, PCR) to support ecological research. In addition, I have experience in training, workshop coordination, and knowledge dissemination through national and international conferences.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine scientific expertise with community engagement. From leading NSS environmental drives and eco-campaigns to speaking at the Tamil Birders Meet, I have consistently sought to connect science with people. I communicate effectively in both Tamil and English, making me well-suited for grassroots-level initiatives that require bridging stakeholders, government agencies, and communities.

I see my career as a lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship. My vision is to contribute to sustainable governance by applying my skills in biodiversity conservation, environmental education, and ecological restoration to create lasting impact at both community and policy levels.
