ACADEMICS - PROJECTS Project title (M.Tech): “THREE PHASE GRID CONNECTED SOLAR INVERTER” IN BHEL, ELECTRONICS DIVISION, BANGALORE Description: Due to increase in energy demand and environmental concerns, grid connected Photo-Voltaic (PV) system is one of rapid growing generation in today’s power market. Due to the high initial costs of the PV systems, reliability and high efficiency became the targets for PV industries. Although the efficiency of PV inverters available in the market has gone up to 98%-99% their reliability is still a concern. Mean time between failures (MTBF) of PV inverters is about 5-10 years which is considerably low when compared to that of PV panels which have a life time of 20-25 years. A transformer-less (VSI+BC) topology for grid connected PV system is so popular and using now-a-days. DC link capacitors (Aluminium Electrolytic type) are found to be the prime responsible elements for the failure of PV inverters. The utilization of Current Source Inverter (CSI) as PV inverter (single stage boost inverter) for grid applications will be a cost-effective solution for increasing the reliability of the PV system. The project is aimed at the Simulation studies to predict the performance of the CSI inverter topology with Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation. The simulation is also carried out for implementing sinusoidal and space vector modulation for VSI using MATLAB/SIMULINK and comparison studies is made for VSI with SPWM and SVPWM technique. Project title (BE): AUTOMATED AMBULANCE DETECTION WITH AUTO TRAFFIC CONTROL AND GATE CONTROL Description: This project consists of sensor, LCD display, Ambulance with RF and IR transmitter, Hospital zone with RF and IR receiver and traffic zone with IR receiver. The main aim here is automating the ambulance and controlling the gate, allowing only Hospital staff vehicles. Ambulance is automated in detecting the sickness of patient it is carrying and display the same on the LCD display with beeper sound, which is placed in the hospital and alert the required doctor to treat that patient with all equipments to treat. The message is displayed with the help of RF transmitter and receiver. Gate control and auto-traffic is made by the sensor and IR transreceiver. Here 89C51 is used which is of 8-bit microprocessor and 2x16 matrix. Relays like switch is used in opening and closing gate for Hospital staffs and unauthorized public and directing for general public parking vehicles and also used in traffic control.
