At Sirens and Aritzia, I have learned valuable skills that can transfer to any organization. In doing stock, shipping, receiving, and track inventory, I am focused on time organization and prioritization. At Sirens, I was also the health and safety representative, as I conducted monthly store checks, filed/filled out accident forms, requested more inventory, and reported deficiencies. My manager offered me a shift manager position, which I had to decline due to school commitments and lack of full-time hours. However, as a leader, I assist my manager daily in her duties of morning counts, nightly paperwork, deposits, training, scheduling, visual merchandising, and store closing.
I successfully trained new hires on three differing POS systems and supported/coached them through floor operations at both Sirens and Aritzia, as I have strong interpersonal and communication skills. At Aritzia, I would work one-on-one with clients, as my excellent persuasive and customer service skills helped me achieve a senior sales goal (from a weekly $300 average sales per hour to $777 average sales per hour) in less than two months. As my highest sale made in one day was $11,095, and overall my total sales at Aritzia were $80,268 in 5 months.
Moreover, as a self-employed private tutor, I developed strong communication, patience, enthusiasm, conflict resolution, and creative problem-solving skills. I assisted students with learning in preparation for upcoming exams such as finals or EQAO (grades 3, 6, and 9). Alongside, I created new learning materials related to their grade level to aid in learning new ideas and concepts. I also graded students' work and scheduled weekly appointments to discuss student progress with parents.
As an Office Administrative assistant/ tutor for a Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board summer school, I completed morning processing on Microsoft Office and follow-up with parents to confirm student attendance or absences. I would also keep an inventory and order office and classroom supplies for teachers and staff. I would assist teachers with photocopying handouts, organize and sort newsletters, mark report cards, deliver morning announcements, and aid students in the learning process.
