Topic.2 About Hair Transplant Often times, some people take their looks for granted until some of the things that make them attractive, like the hair are gone. For some, however, medical conditions could make them lose their hair and will require a hair transplant to fix the issue. Whatever the cause of your hair loss is, hair transplant is a surgery process whereby hair is evacuated from one part of the body to another part where hair is urgently needed. Since 1950, doctors in the United States have been successfully carrying out hair transplants and till date, doctor across the world, most especially in developed countries, has been helping patients with hair loss grow back their hair through the hair transplant. After a hair transplant, the patient scalp may become very tender and will probably have to swallow pain medications for many days. Also, he may have to wear bandages over his scalp for a day or two. An anti-inflammatory or antibiotic may as well be prescribed to the patient to be taken for many days. Two to three weeks after the transplant, the hair transplanted will fall out, but new hair should start growing in place within some months. Treatment Process Anesthetic injections are what precede hair transplant procedure. Anesthetic injections are given to the patient to make the scalp numb, such that that the patient will not feel pain all through the procedure. An incision is made in the scalp area you are picking the hair from (the donor area) and the place is stitched up after removing the piece. Then to the area that needs some hair, the donor tissue is then divided into pieces, all depending on the surface area of the portion that needs hair transplanted to. The hair is carefully grafted in place such that nobody will notice that hair transplant was carried out on you – everything should look natural after the procedure. The grafted hair will fall out after a while to give way for new hair to start growing in place. And often times, from six months after the grafted hair has fallen out, new hair growth will be noticed in the area.
