Sukumar Reddy Chennuru

I am a Software Engineer and Cloud/DevOps Engineer with over two years of industry experience in building, automating, and optimizing scalable systems across cloud and on-premises environments. With a strong foundation in programming, Linux systems, and distributed architectures, I bring a combined skill set across software development and DevOps, enabling me to design reliable systems end-to-end—from writing code to deploying and maintaining production infrastructure.

My background as a Software Engineer includes developing platform components, writing optimized database queries, designing service flows, and enhancing system reliability across large-scale enterprise environments. I have contributed to database migrations, performance tuning, debugging complex system issues, and implementing new application features using Python, Java, C++, Bash, and SQL. I have also worked extensively on platform enhancements, code compilation, API-level communication, and service-level integrations, giving me a strong grasp of backend systems and systems architecture.

Complementing my software engineering experience, I specialize in Cloud and DevOps practices that streamline development, deployment, and operations. I have hands-on expertise with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFormation, along with strong experience automating CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, and GitHub Actions. My work includes containerizing applications with Docker, orchestrating microservices on Kubernetes, and writing Helm charts to enable consistent and version-controlled deployments.

I am proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and Ansible, which allows me to provision environments and automate workflows efficiently. I have successfully executed system migrations, including upgrading environments from RHEL 7 to RHEL 8 and performing Oracle-to-MariaDB migrations by rewriting stored procedures, SQL queries, and performance-critical routines.

Monitoring and observability are key strengths of mine; I use Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and Fluentd to create dashboards, configure alerts, and conduct root-cause analysis. These capabilities help improve service reliability, reduce downtime, and enable data-driven decision-making.

I hold a Master’s degree in Data Science from the University of New Haven and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from Sathyabama University. I am also an AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
