Apr 2015 – present – English Language and IT Entrepreneur – In Brazil I created a small English Language Business, specializing in translating technical documents and providing an accurate native English speaking private tutor experience in Lajeado, RS. www.facebook.com/betterenglishbrazil . Through this I began working with an SEO Business in Sao Paulo, Brazil to translate and publish Business Process Management related articles in Wordpress. www.heflo.com I have also assisted my Brother in law in starting a specialized IT server company called ValeTi creating IT solutions for clients. www.valeti.inf.br Dec 2012 – Dec 2014 PBT Couriers NZ – Assistant Courier Branch Manager/Operations and Fleet – www.pbt.com This role allowed me to provide leadership and guidance to a group of 16 courier drivers and a further 9 depot staff. Responsibilities involved driver training and route planning, supervision of drivers and depot staff, data entry, internal company software and hardware training, dispute resolution, the safe and legal loading and transportation of dangerous goods throughout the south island, health and safety, dispatch, KPI’s and data analysis, as well as all round problem solving. I successfully redesigned the entire Christchurch city courier network for the branch, making the map more efficient, profitable, fair and better for customers in terms of wait times and all round service standard. I was also involved in evolving the branch from having an over-reliance on wage drivers to contracting almost 100% owner drivers, which reduced staff sick days and boosted service. I was involved in initiatives to increase driver training as they begin in the business and initiatives to reduce damages (decrease of 30% over 2 years) and claims for malpractice (reduction of 25%). After listening to many drivers I indicated a need to speed up the delivery process by creating scanning cards (for when customers aren’t home) as well as promoting the need for non-signature tickets. Jun 2009 – Dec 2012 – PBT Transport Christchurch Night Operations Manager In this role I was solely responsible for 15 staff and the safety and guidance for a number of local and line-haul drivers. I was also involved in a cadet program which allowed me to experience other facets of the business including Sales, Customer service, Courier operations, Bulk transport and Management. I successfully streamlined the dangerous goods process from an 8 -10 hour a day position, to a job that now takes 4 – 5 hours per day (saving more than $20,000 per annum in wages) Saved the Christchurch branch $100,000 through revenue protection strategies involving the accurate measurement of weight and volume of freight; in turn also allowing line-haul and local delivery vehicles to be more accurate. I observed a problem with the identification of bulk courier freight being unloaded and required urgently for quick turn-around. So I created a bright sticker label to solve the nationwide problem – ensuring urgent freight was identified and unloaded more rapidly. I was a member of the health and safety committee, responsible for several safety initiatives including new employee training and awareness and speed governing.
