Worked with TFS, VSTS, and GIT to move changes into source control for later deployment. Performance tested all changes to document improvement metrics.  SQL/ETL/SSIS Developer  S3 Staffing /HBM Holdings Developed and customized SSRS reports and SQL queries (almost all in stored procedures) in support of business operations, as part of a project team organized around handling a major system upgrade. SQL Server versions included 2008-R2, 2012, and 2014. One of the procedures handled creation of General Ledger entries based on a configuration table. Also worked on critical state sales tax SSRS reports. Followed specified DevOps processes. Worked on performance tuning new and existing queries, finding problems, and resolving the issues. One was the poor use of a linked server resource; where enterprise data located there was being joined to much larger tables in the main database; was causing blocking on other queries against that same data, which sees frequent usage. Solved that problem by getting that data quickly into a temporary table and joining that instead. Participated fully in agile/scrum processes, including submissions for code review and strong use of source control via Visual Studio 2015. Set up a new data gathering process to populate a new table to allow for significant accounting reporting that was previously impractical due to a view with one truly massive table getting a UNION ALL with a sizable number of other tables.  Database Performance  2/2019 – 7/2020 Developed and customized SSRS reports and SQL queries (almost all in stored procedures) in support of business operations, having implemented SSRS 2016 from scratch. Fully recovered that environment after a severe outage, requiring re-creating it from scratch. Followed specified DevOps processes. Created global AD groups. Developed several VB.Net Windows Forms Applications to process bank transaction data. Converted a large number of Crystal Reports to SSRS reports. Applied global groups to security thereof.  SQL/ SSRS Developer  Pharmacord, LLC 3/2017 – 7/2017 TEK Systems /Do It Best Developed and customized SSIS packages and SQL queries (often in stored procedures) in support of business operations, as part of a project team organized around handling shorter duration projects and requests. SQL Server versions included 2008-R2, 2012, 2014, and 2016. Followed specified DevOps processes. Customized an existing “Click-Once” Visual Basic .Net application to include additional data, including replacing an existing stored procedure that updates application data from other sources with an SSIS package. Worked on performance tuning an existing query, finding stale statistics, and having the DBA refresh them to resolve the bulk of the issue. The rest of it resided in the use of a scalar function, but due to heavy dependency on the encapsulated business logic, it was decided that creating another location for the calculation was not a good thing, and given that the statistics update had provided sufficient relief, the business was okay with it. Wrote, debugged, and tested a .NET Windows Forms application to replace manual Excel spreadsheet processing.  SQL Developer / Crystal Reports  9/2015 – 5/2016 Designed, built, and released into production various SQL objects, including queries, tables, stored procedures, and SSIS packages, via scrum methodology, using source control and deployment tools such as Git Bash, Stash, Bamboo (automatic ‘db’ deployment), & problem management software Jira, in support of property content data. Updated a number of existing views to supply additional columns.  SQL Developer - 12/2012 – 9/2014 BC Forward / Navient (formerly SallieMae)  Designed and built a SQL Server 2008 solution to provide fiscal balancing comparisons to support the conversion of legacy collections data in Platinum and FACS into Titanium. This included the development of a large set of SSIS packages to import spreadsheets, run T-SQL queries, and bring in data from Teradata, Oracle (PL/SQL), DB2 (mainframe), SAP extracts (System, List, Save, Spreadsheet from user interface), and Access databases for processing.  Identified data and design gaps associated with the existing Access database, and provided guidance on associated architectural & business process issues. This included making needed updates.  Identified and reported data issues that required user action to resolve discrepancies/conflicts or correct errors.  SQL Developer 5/2011 – 9/2011 Latitude36 / Ecolab/Kay Chemical  Developed &/or modified supporting T-SQL queries and stored procedures for new and existing Crystal Reports.  Identified data and design gaps associated with the upgrade/migration from Clientele to ITSM, and provided guidance on associated architectural & business process issues.  Met with users to identify report changes associated with the migration and its impact on their reports, and in cases where the nature of the report had to change significantly due to the change in database structure, acquire specifications for those changes, where needed.  Crystal Reports Developer - 3/2011 – 4/2011 Kelly IT Resources /EQI, Inc.  Developed &/or modified supporting T-SQL queries and stored procedures for new and existing Crystal Reports.  Identified data issues to management for corrective actions.  Provided guidance on architectural & business process issues associated with their ERP system & usage.  SSRS Developer - 12/2010 – 1/2011 Select Resources / OST  Developed supporting T-SQL queries / stored procedures as well as SSRS reports in support of adding a reporting capability for a commercial software package written in Silverlight, including some specifically for RoamBI.  Database Developer - 3/2010 – 10/2010 Princeton Information / Citibank  Hired as a database developer and worked with various SQL Server database elements, including stored procedures, T-SQL queries, linked servers, and SSIS packages.  Remediated an MS Access database to correct code problems and improve performance significantly.  Worked on a project to convert jobs from Control-M to AutoSys, to include the writing of complex custom wrapper scripts to reproduce functionality from the former into the latter.  Technical Consultant - 8/2009 – 12/2009 Technisource / Metrix  Engaged by Technisource to assist their client Metrix with enhancements / bug fixes for the classic asp version of their commercial software product, where I analyzed, coded, and packaged bug fixes / enhancements for web pages for various Metrix clients, including significant use of XML & database independent software infrastructure.  Coded a significant number of SQL queries, stored procedures, & triggers for Oracle 10g(PL/SQL), as well as a few for SQL Server 2000, 2005, & 2008 (T-SQL), including the use of dynamic SQL.  Used Metrix product infrastructure XML queries to provide data for existing/new web pages, or for data validation or insert/update as needed when fixes/enhancements required changes to the infrastructure. Learned and made significant use of XSLT in generating web page scripts, controls, and data.  SQL Consultant - 3/2009 – 3/2009 Black Diamond Software / Berkeley Facultative Reinsurance  Engaged by BDS to assist their client with deployment of SQL Server 2008 and Reporting Services, which is destined to be their central repository for reporting. Installed and configured same, and set up an ODBC driver to an Informix database server (Linux) as a "Linked Server". Used provided SQL queries from existing reports as the basis for developing a stored procedure and added parameters for SSRS using dynamic T-SQL. Demonstrated functionality for client's "proof of technology" by successfully deploying a report to SSRS using BIDS and the developed stored procedure, including exporting the report in various formats.  SQL Developer DBA - 5/2008 – 1/2009 TEK Systems / National Heritage Academies  Met with users at all levels to gather data requirements, constraints, and report formats. Designed and wrote complex T-SQL queries, building Crystal Reports around most of them; supporting the conversion from Great Plains to Lawson ERP; using SQL Server 2005, SSMS, SSIS (ad-hoc ETL), & Reporting Services. Reports encompassed GL, A/P, PO, P&L, as well as various state-mandated financial reports.  Used an ad-hoc ETL process to migrate data from a Visual FoxPro database to SQL Server, using Access as an intermediate destination, and then SSMA (SQL Server Migration Assistant) to get the data to staging tables on SQL Server, and ultimately, an UPDATE query to populate the production database from staging, using SSMS. Dynamic SQL was used to help generate staging data.  Updated, streamlined, and normalized an MS Access database in support of tracking contractors for various reporting requirements, including OHIO State DOE EMIS reporting, including moving tables to SQL 2005. This included significant use of VBA within Access to manage the new user interface, and performance consultation for an application’s database server.  Database and Web Design, plus Reporting - 7/2004 – 3/2008 Siemens IT Solutions & Services  Met with users at all levels to gather business, data, and security requirements for all assigned projects, including business rules, data integrity/constraint requirements, and that the end product met the business need; and documented data structures and code as needed. Used Access to create/verify data models.  Designed and built Crystal reports, Access & SQL databases/T-SQL queries, and web-based reporting associated with a major IT outsourcing contract, to measure several hundred different SLA and SLO metrics, one of which provided input to the primary bill to the client.  Created an HR database in Access to help track personnel cost savings.  Imported and exported data via ETL processes to and from SQL Server 2000 and Access and Excel, including using DTS packages, as needed to fulfill reporting and/or database management requirements.  Designed and implemented tables, queries, views, stored procedures, and scheduled jobs to manage data as needed to fulfill reporting and/or database management requirements. Most of my work over the last 3 years was done, remotely, using VPN.  Distributed Computing Service Technician - 4/1995 – 7/2004 CIGNA  Automated various business functions using batch files and/or programming, with tools ranging from BASIC to Excel and Access, including significant use of VBScript & VBA (within Excel & Access). Mockups and data models were common and were done entirely in Access.  Provide ongoing critical caseload metrics to management using Crystal Reports with a SQL Server database, to include weekly & monthly reports, charts, & graphs, as well as input to monthly operating reports to the next level of management.
