I was in the process of looking for a new job when the pandemic hit 2 years ago and I haven’t had any full time jobs since then but I would love to find a remote position where I am able to use my extensive experience in both Business Management and Customer Service.
I spent about 4 years previous to the pandemic running the Office and Logistical side of an LLC owned by myself and my fiancé. It was a cleaning company with a focus on post construction cleaning, which is a specialized field most cleaners are not equipped to handle. We saw a niche in the market decided to go for it. My partner had 8+ years experience cleaning, washing windows and pressure washing and I had about 4 years of experience as the General Manager of both high end and casual restaurants so we combined our experience and started Top One Clean LLC. We began by building our relationships with both local construction companies and realtors. This allowed us to secure future clients, as well as gain information on what they were looking for in a cleaning company which allowed us to identify the things they wanted but were not getting from their current cleaners.
I believe our focus on finding the gaps in the services the other cleaners provided allowed us to find a spot in the market of our own without having to compete as much with other cleaners whose focus was usually on regularly scheduled house cleaning instead of Construction and Remodel specific cleaning services. I also built an in depth client list with up to date information on their Project Leads, who were usually the ones to call us, and any specifics that could put us ahead of another cleaning service. For example, some of the Contractors we worked for would rather us spend a short amount of time on each area, basically the bare minimum and keep the bill low, but other Contractors had no limit to their budget and very exacting homeowners so we could spend days cleaning the construction dust off everything and scraping the silicone and drywall off of windows and floors. I found that tailoring our service to the needs of each individual job was harder but in the end we had a much higher call back rate from the clients we knew well.
I enjoy having something to really sink my teeth into at work and I always put my heart into the work I do because at the end of the day, I like the way I feel when I know I’ve done the best I possibly can. Whether that is running a new business and getting it integrated into the community or just simply helping a frustrated customer on the phone, I try to be proud of the work I do and the things I put out into the world.
