There is a high demand for dental care as current patient numbers continue to grow, many of
them needing preventative, basic dental care. Keeping up with demand can be especially difficult if
your current dental practice does not take advantage of the most up-to-date software programs.
Digitizing patient care and records can help keep your dental practice organized and patient
information easier to access. An integrated system that can keep efficient track of billing information,
scheduling and patient engagement will help any practice succeed. The following is a compilation of
seven tips that can help your dental practice grow so you can start earning long-term, loyal patrons.
Promote Your Practice Online
What many businesses across multiple fields have recognized is, online marketing has become
an essential part of advertising. Especially when many people utilize smartphones as their main
communication device. After all, such media devices today are often used as a calendar, event
scheduler, billfold, email, text, and calls just to name a few. People often use their smartphones to
stay connected to their social media pages and emails, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Gmail,
and Yahoo.
Taking advantage of the social media platforms is a huge part of staying connected to your clients
and future customers. For example, creating a Facebook page to promote your dental practice to the
local community can be a great way of gaining new patients. Not only can you share contact
information, you can share important dental care information as well as promotions the practice may
be running.
Flexible Financing
Offering a wide variety of financing options will increase the success of growing your dental
practice. In addition to accepting dental insurance coverage, having alternative payment options like
debit/credit cards and personal checks or cash will bring in more folks that seek dynamic care.
Furthermore, offering financing plans that can help patients who are in difficult circumstances will
increase customer loyalty. This option allows patients who truly need top-notch dental care to seek
help and continue to seek your assistance because of your reliable, genuine care.
Referral Promotions
A great way of spreading the word about your dental practice is by using a patient referral
program. Word of mouth can help businesses of any kind grow, especially if you offer a “refer-afriend” promotion. This kind of program can give your current patients more incentive to referring folks
they know who might need a dentist for themselves and/or families.
Offer Online Payment Options
Many consumers are paying their bills through auto-bill pay and making monthly online payments.
Integrating these options into your online website will make bill-pay more streamlined and accessible.
Especially when folks today use their cellphones, computers, and other media devices to pay their
regular bills.
In addition to offering online payment options, you can offer an optional monthly email reminder
for payments due. Giving the clients several communication options will impact their trust in your
practice and give them plenty of opportunities to ensure payment is made.

program that is able to deliver multiple tasks at peak efficiency will help any dental practice
successfully grow. An integrated system can improve overall efficiency in billing and record keeping
as well as customer engagement and loyalty.
For example, with certain programs, you can digitize your scheduling platform to enhance the
efficiency of appointments. Easily schedule and reschedule appointments based off of patient needs
and even send out friendly appointment reminders. You can even keep up with what the patients are
talking about by allowing them to rate and comment on their experience. Staying informed on how
your clients are feeling about their dental care is part of the process of creating loyal patients that will
seek your practice for all their dental needs.

How to Reglaze a Bath Tub
There will come a time when your bath tub will lose its glaze after years of exposure to hot
and cold water. Before you buy a new bath tub, consider reglazing the old one. It is cheaper
and easier than installing a new bath tub. Reglazing your bath tub wouldn’t require you to
remove bathroom tiles or tinker with the plumbing. In fact, the whole process may take only
three to four hours.

Industrial cleaner
Scraper
Sander or sandpaper
Electric dyer
Waterproof body filler
Masking tape
Gloves
Goggles
Spray gun
Waterproof epoxy primer
Aliphatic acrylic urethane
Steps
1. Make certain that your bathroom is properly ventilated to prevent the accumulation of
fumes from the chemicals to be used in the reglazing process.
2. Use an industrial cleaner to remove stains and dirt from the surface of the bath tub.
3. Use a scraper to scrape off any remaining glaze residues on the surface of the bath tub
and wash it down with cold water.
4. Sand down the bath tub with a sander or sandpaper while it is still moist. Wash down
the bath tub again and let it dry. You can also use an electric dryer to speed up the
drying process.
5. Apply a waterproof body filler to areas that may be excessively damaged. This will
ensure that the bath tub has a uniform, smooth surface.
6. Use masking tape to cover areas around the tub that you want to protect from
chemical sprays.
7. Wear gloves and goggles to protect yourself from chemical fumes. Use a spray gun to
apply three layers of a waterproof epoxy primer. Wait 15 minutes before applying
each new layer.
8. Let the primer dry for at least 15 minutes before applying three to four layers of an
aliphatic acrylic urethane. Let the coat of glaze dry and cure for at least 48 hours.

Tips
•
•
Avoid using epoxy primers that require the use of an acid solution (such as
hydrofluoric acid) for etching. This method can cause long-term damage to the bath
tub.
Steer clear of wipe-on primers for bath tub reglazing; they are meant for use on glass
only. They may be cheaper than spray-on primers, but they break down within a
couple of years.
How to Configure Spanning Tree Protocol
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is a Layer 2 link management protocol that ensures there is
only one path between two nodes on a network. This prevents looping in the network that
leads to nodes receiving duplicate messages. Spanning Tree Protocol defines a root bridge
and a path from the root to all devices in the network. By default, Spanning Tree Protocol is
disabled. To configure STP you need to assign interfaces to bridge groups. You may also
need to enable and set the STP priority for each bridge group.
Instructions
1. Open the command line interface (CLI). Network interfaces (such as routers) run on
an operating system called IOS, which is controlled by a text-based CLI that allows
you to type commands and set parameters.
Type "cmd" in "Start"> "Run" and hit Enter to open the command prompt. Type
"telnet interface_ip," where "interface_ip" is the IP address (such as-) of
the device you want to connect to. Enter the login and password when prompted. This
will open up the CLI for the device.
You must be in the privileged EXEC mode to configure STP. To do this, type
"enable" in the CLI.
Type "configure terminal" to enter the global configuration mode.
2. Enter the interface configuration mode. Type the following command: "interface
{dot11radio number}" (to enter interface configuration mode for radio interfaces or
sub-interfaces) or "interface {fastethernet number}" (to enter interface configuration
mode for Ethernet interfaces or sub-interfaces), where "number" is the interface
number of the device.
3. Allocate the interface to a specific bridge group. Type "bridge-group number," where
"number" is a bridge group number between 1 and 255.
4. Counteract the automatic disabling of Spanning Tree Protocol. Type "no bridge-group
number spanning-disabled," where "number" is the bridge group number.
5. Type "exit" to quit the interface configuration mode and return to the global
configuration mode.
6. Enable Spanning Tree Protocol for the bridge group. Type "bridge number protocol
ieee," where "number" is the bridge group number. Repeat this command for each
bridge group you created with the "bridge-group" command.
7. Assign a priority to each bridge group by typing "bridge number priority pr_number,"
where "pr_number" is the priority number. This step is optional. The bridge with the
lowest priority becomes the spanning-tree root.
8. Type "end" to exit the global configuration mode.
9. Verify your settings by typing "show spanning-tree bridge."
10. Save your settings in the startup configuration file by typing "copy running-config
startup-config." This step is optional.

What does a Radiologic Technologist do?
Radiologic technologists, also called radiographers, make use of medical equipment to create
images of the patient’s body for diagnostic purposes. Radiographers are different from
radiologists; radiologists are medical doctors who interpret the radiographs prepared by the
radiographers. Radiologic technologists work in medical laboratories, hospitals, physicians’
offices and nursing homes. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the employment rate
for radiologic technologists will grow by 15 percent from 2006 through 2016.
The primary duties of a radiologic technologist include, preparing radiographs of patients’
body using X-ray machines and administering non-radioactive chemicals into patients’
bloodstream. The different types of machines that radiologists work with include: ultrasound,
magnetic resonance, positron emission and computed tomography machines. Radiologic
technologists are also responsible for maintaining the equipment and keeping medical records
of patients. They have to make sure that they follow guidelines and regulations to prevent
unwanted exposure to radiation.
Radiographers can also choose to specialize in a specific technology. CT technologists
specialize in the use of computed tomography (CT) scanners. Radiologic technologists who
specialize in Magnetic Resonance Imagining are called MR or MRI technologists.
Mammographers use low-level radiation to create images of breasts. Employers typically
prefer to hire radiologists who are qualified to operate more than one kind of diagnostic
machine, because it helps to keep costs down.
You can become a radiographer by getting a certificate (one year), associate's degree (two
years) or a bachelor’s degree (four years) in radiography. Other health-care professionals
(like registered nurses) who want to shift to radiography can earn a one-year certificate.
People with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in radiography generally work as supervisors,
administrators or teachers. Radiographers who have the necessary experience can get further
qualifications to become supervisors, radiologist assistants and department administrators.
Some radiologic technologists choose to obtain a voluntary one-year certification offered by
the AART (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) because it improves their
employment chances. To stay certified, radiographers need to complete 24 hours of training
after every two years.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average yearly salary of radiologic
technologists was $53,230 in May 2008 compared with $48,170 in May 2006. Hospitals
employed the highest number of radiographers (more than 125,500) with an average yearly
salary of $53,790 in May 2008. Radiographers who work in the research and development
industry were the highest-paid, with an average yearly salary of $63,580 in May 2008.
Types of Camera Lenses
Camera lenses are either primes (fixed focal length) or zooms (adjustable focal length). Most
low-level cameras (such as disposable cameras) come equipped with prime lenses, and they
are best for beginners who want to take candid shots. They produce good results even in
conditions with low-light levels. Most modern cameras come equipped with zoom lenses.
Zoom lenses work best in conditions with good lighting. SLR cameras allow you to change
the lens depending on your needs, while digital cameras have built-in settings that replicate
the effects of different lenses.
Standard Lenses
The angle and magnification of an image depends on the focal length of the camera lens.
Most SLR cameras come quipped with a standard lens, with a focal length of 50mm. It
produces images that are almost the same as what the human eye sees. Standard lenses with
zoom capabilities have a focal length that ranges between 35mm and 100mm.
Special Lenses
The macro lens has a short focal length, which makes it ideal for pictures that capture minute
details, such as a close-up of dew on a flower. The macro lens has image ratio of 1:1, which
means that the image captures the object's actual size. The fisheye lens produces a distortion
effect in the picture such that the object appears to curve in or curve out. Fisheye lenses were
originally designed for use in astronomy, because they capture a bigger expanse of the sky.
The focal length of fisheye lenses ranges between 7mm and 16 mm.
Telephoto
Telephoto lenses produce results similar to zoom lenses, but they work in a different way.
While zoom lenses magnify and enlarge the image, telephoto lenses reduce the distance
between the lens and the object, thus providing greater detail. Medium telephoto lenses have
a focal length between 85mm and 135mm. They are best for portraits because they capture
more detail than standard lenses. Long telephoto lenses have a focal length exceeding
135mm. Super telephoto lenses have a focal length greater than 300mm. They are long and
heavy and need a tripod stand of their own.
Wide-Angle
Wide-angle lenses have a focal length of less than 50mm and are used to produce panoramic
images with broad perspectives, without the need for constant refocusing. Super wide-angle
lenses captures a much wider image that the wide-angle lens but not as wide as the fisheye
lens. Their focal length does not exceed 24mm.
Other Lenses
Varisoft lenses are specialized lenses that have an adjustable ring that allows the
photographer to alter the softness and are ideal for portraits that require a soft focus. Shift
lenses allow alterations in the level of image distortion; photographers who want to take
wide-angle pictures of buildings prefer shift lenses, because unlike wide-angle lenses, they
don't make the buildings appear to bend inward or outward.
