Coffey International is a British firm that prides itself in being at the
cutting edge of research. It has diverse interests in fields of Health,
Education, Mining, Agriculture among others.
I handle administration and finance for the Africa Clean Energy,
Technical Assistance Fund (ACE-TAF), which is funded by DFID and is
carried out in 14 African countries with Kenya being the HQ. Program
budget is 14 million GBP. My duties are centred around:

maintaining staff accounts by giving advances and analysing
and posting expense reports and project expenses in strict
adherence to DFID regulations.
I also do financial reporting and activity budgets for all the 14
countries by employing complex functions on spreadsheets i.e
IFS and pivot tables.
I developded the programs transaction and funds transfer
guidelines based on each of the 14 countries monetary policies
and banking guidelines.
Negotiating exchange rates with the bank to ensure minimal
exchange losses to the project. I do this by managing rates
through the emarket FX trading platform for the bank.
Maintain and manage 9 satellite offices in 9 countries i.e.
paying suppliers, coordinating and planning events etc.
Ensuring proper filling of timesheets by both staff and
consultants.
Day to day accounting duties: passing ledger entries, bank
reconciliations, ensuring proper documentation.
RTI International is an american firm that prides itself in being at the

of the organization, working on the Tusome Early grade reading
program. The program which was a USAID funded program was
implemented country wide with a program budget of 19 million USD.

Ustadi foundation is a non-govermental institution that carries out
capacity development services and value chain development for groups
and community based organizations. I worked in the finance and grants
department.

Finance Intern-
Carried out business development for Machakos Co-operative
union (MCU) on organic coffee. This included production
improvement and market development.
Beef animal production development in Machakos and Kitui
under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and
Land O’ Lakes. The program was run under a two-pronged
approach that targeted the farmers and veterinary services
provider.
Cashew production development in Kilifi under Walmart
Foundation and Self-Help Africa (SHA). The program was
aimed at improving cashew production and marketing in
Kenya.
Seaweed development in Kilifi County. The Program was
aimed at introducing seaweed farming in Kenya and ensuring
that it was commercialized. The program was funded by the
Swedish Government and ACT Kenya.
Grants management for Youth Groups in the International
Labor Organization (ILO) program called Youth Enterprise
Fund (YEF). This included report writing and carrying grants
close outs for the groups.
I worked as an intern in the accounts department of the National
Hospital Insurance Fund, which is a parastal that offers affordable
medical insurance to the general public.
Primarily I worked as a teller in the banking hall, thus I collected
remittances from the members and reconciling the receipts at the end
of each day. My duties also extended to reconciling debtors and
assisting in debt collection.

Orange -Telkom Kenya ltd is a telecommunications company, I worked
for their human resource department.
Primarily my duties were centered in their pensions section in
evaluating and claims and processing them and assisted in processing
claims for the in house medical scheme. I also assisted in running the
payroll for the 1600 employees of the company and facilitated staff
travel for official duties.

I am fully conversant with tax and financial compliance laws of the Kenyan Republic and fully

Am conversant with financial reporting requirements for both a non-governmental and
commercial entities. I am fully conversant with the grants process from proposal and budget
writing to group development and management and finally grants close outs. I am conversant
with multinational donor reporting standards for both financial and narrative reports. I am
also fully conversant with logistic planning for travel for staff in the field i.e. air tickets
accommodation vehicle hires etc. I have also been part of two organizations procurement
committees.
I also have working knowledge on how to conduct both a financial and a systems audit and
understand fully the threshold of system and financial systems integrity. I am fully conversant
managing both local and foreign currency accounts and managing accounting ledgers in both
currencies. I can produce firm accounts for both BOD and for audit purposes.
