Frank Summary
I’m quite smart. I’m great with computers and good with all manner of office/clerical work.
Coming from a family of business owners, I definitely understand the realities involved in
operating a business, as well as how such an organization functions as a whole. I like to work
(as opposed to chat, goof off, etc.). I like when other people know they can count on me to get
things done. I’m always looking for the most efficient way to do something (streamlining a
process, for example, is something I genuinely enjoy/find intellectually stimulating). Finally, I
take pride in producing quality work. Part of this relates to my artistic side, but in general, I just
want the work that I do to be accurate (e.g. error-checked), thorough, clear, etc., and I can be
very meticulous when I need to be. There’s no personal satisfaction for me in producing work
of poor quality.
Qualifications
While I enjoy working in an operations or administration-related capacity, I also enjoy the more
technical side of things. I currently hold two computer industry (CompTIA) certifications (A+
and Network+), and for the last several months I’ve been studying for the Security+
(computer/network security) certification. It’s a very tough test and I did not pass it on my first
attempt (so I’m still working towards that). In total, I’ve had approximately three years of
schooling in information technology.
Experience
While I’ve been studying computer security the last several months, I’ve also been working
with social media marketing, digital music distribution, etc. in what we might refer to as an
“ongoing passion project”. I’m keenly interested in the music industry as it relates to the digital
age we now find ourselves in. This appeals to both the artist and computer geek in me.
Operations Coordinator
August 2016 – November 2017
Phoenix Energy Technologies, Inc.
I started out at this company as an intern, and at that time, worked primarily on IT-related
projects. Ultimately, however, they hired me on as a member of the operations department
where my work related more to operations/administration.
-Handled utility turnovers (turning on/off gas, water, electric) for a major retailer (client)
with roughly a couple thousand locations. I coordinated with their facilities/construction
and finance department.
-Manually set/adjusted lighting and HVAC settings and schedules for our clients
-Drew up lighting schedules for a major movie theater chain based on show times
-Generated billing statements
-Coordinated HVAC repairs with third party vendors
-Data entry (much of this had a technical element to it)
Prior to my work at Phoenix Energy, I was attending school full-time in an effort to transition to
a more IT-related field. I completed IVC’s “Local Area Networks” certificate program. In total,
I trained for the A+, Network+, and CCNA certifications. I also took an additional class at
Cypress College related to computer security.
During this time, I also tried my hand at being a professional foreign exchange trader. That was
an adventure, to say the least, but not particularly relevant to what me might think of as a
typical occupation. The art of “technical analysis” (of price charts) however, still fascinates me
to this day.
