· Served as a liaison between Meeting and Convention Planners and the City of Norfolk. Provided
convention services to more than 350 groups with more than 100,000 attendees collectively.
· Planned and Executed all large scale (250 or more attendees) internal and external hosted client events
with total budgets exceeding $750K. Responsible for planning the largest event in the bureaus history
with total budget exceeding $275K.
· Planned and Executed 17 Familiarization (FAM) Tours with more than 185 meeting and convention
planners. Planning consisted of travel arrangements, dining, accommodations and activities. All FAM
Tours remained under budget and exceeded in-kind donation budgeting. Return on Investment from
FAM Tours averaged 900% or greater.
· Occasionally assumed the role of National Sales Manager and assisted in the closing of more than 10
prospected accounts with estimated Economic Impacts of more than $1M. Provided contract
negotiations, city site inspection tours and customized convention services.
· Assumed the role of Director of Convention & Visitor Services for 6 months with responsibilities of
management of Services staff, facilitated Department Strategic Goals, Prepared Monthly Department
Budget, Planning and Marketing Reports and compiled quarterly updates of Department Performance
Objectives.
· Independently recruited, trained and supervised 3 Services Assistants, 3 Collegiate Interns, Front Office
Receptionist, 10 Visitor Information Specialists and hundreds of event volunteers.
· Redesigned, Marketed, Maintained and Oversaw the distribution of the department marketing
collateral such as Convention Services webpage, Convention Services Directory (print and digital)
Client Microsites, Social Media Campaigns, Digital & Printed Flyers. Frequently produced materials
using Adobe Creative Cloud products.
