MAJOR PROJECTS
Development of the FEA analysis of railway components.
• Railway components are analyzed using Simcenter and floefd for high-speed locomotives and wagons. Models
are prepared and investigated for various working conditions and their fatigue life cycle assessment.
FEA analysis of the bar bush for automotive application.
• Automotive component bar bush of steering drive system is investigated under the stiffness criteria prescribed by
the vehicle ergonomics in Simcenter for different loading conditions.
Crashworthy behaviour of composite tubes with different ply-drop/discontinuity configurations.
• The objective of the project was to develop a tailored damage sensitive fiber reinforced composite tube that can be
used as irreversible energy absorber. In this context, established composite tube making set-up, response studied
experimentally and computationally under low velocity impact and quasi static compression. Analysis performed in
Simcenter, LS-Dyna, Abaqus by using damage subroutine code developed in Visual studio and FORTRAN
compiler used. SolidWorks and Hyper Mesh are used for geometry preparation. Data analysis has been
performed in Origin lab. Also, DIC data is compared and reported.
Study on Impact and Compression after Impact of composite laminate with ply drops
•
This project focusses on understanding the compressive response of the composite laminates with ply drop.
In this end, several plain weave woven glass fabric epoxy composite test specimens with different ply drop
geometry (inclined, V-shaped and inverted V-shaped) are investigated through simulation (Abaqus) and
experimental to investigate the effect of initial damage on the compressive response of the laminate with ply
drops.
Design & Fabrication of filling process by the help of Geneva Mechanism.
• The objective was to calibrate with indexing device which is used in conveyor belt. In order to eliminate
conventional mechanism a sensor-based filling process operational device is developed.
