MSc. Research Work
Title: Studies on Genetic Divergence of Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)
Outline of the work: Forty- five sesame genotypes were used to assess the morphological and
molecular diversity using phenotypic and SSR markers. Estimation of genetic variability, genetic
divergence using Mahalanobis D2 analysis along with the character association of various
quantitative traits and its direct and indirect effects on seed yield were also conducted. NTsys
software analysis was employed to cluster the accessions based on molecular scoring. A combined
interpretation of molecular and morphological assessment enabled to identify genotypes that are
expected to produce highly heterotic hybrids.
