Infinix Note 4
The innovative people at Apple contemplated that human beings also prefer
the sense of touch along with sight and sound. iPhone was born revolutionizing
the cell phone industry. Consequently, now we call our hand phones smartphones.
Coinage cell phone may be resting in peace in the folds of pages of dictionaries
and encyclopedias.
With the smartphone goliaths like Apple, Samsung, etc. sitting pretty with
market shares in the premium segments. The budget smartphone manufacturers
like Infinix are creating ripples in their chosen segment.
Infinix is about to launch its latest version of the Note series, the Infinix
Note 4. How does Infinix Note 4 fit in the budget smartphone schema of things?
Smartphones have their own epigram. Wherein, there is a parallel drawn
between marriage and smartphone. The epigram states “Had I waited a bit longer,
might have gotten a better model!”, No puns intended.
Infinix Note 4 is it the model for you or shall you wait before saying ‘I Do’.
We will go through this dilemma in this article.
Introduction
Infinix Note 4 is the latest release of Infinix. They are a Hong Kong based
company carving a niche for themselves in the Budget Smartphone category
($300 or lower). Infinix comes from the stable of Chinese holding company
Transsion Holdings. Infinix is their premium budget smartphone out of other
smartphone brands like Tecno, Itel, etc.
As an initial impression, it comes packed with all the standard goodies. The
full HD screen display measures 5.7 inches. It provides decent battery life
supported by a 4300 mAh battery. The front 8 Megapixel may be liked by the
selfie diehards. For photography aficionados, the 13 Megapixel camera must be
able to take decent pictures.
Albeit, all the basics seem to tick the right columns but, further exploration
is essential.
Release date
Infinix Note 4 may have a launch in a staggered manner in Q4 of 2017
across the world.
However, for example, in India it is due for launch in the first week of
August. They have already forged exclusive tie-ups with the top on-line retailer,
Flipkart, for its sale.
Design
The form factor is the standard slate/smartphone with rounded/tapered
edges. Infinix Note 4 sports composite metal and plastic with glossy paint finish.
Nevertheless, flipping the phone over you observe the tapered panel edges. This
adds to the ergonomic holding. The overall build is sturdy. Nonetheless, the
ergonomic holding also adds to the feel of sturdiness as well.
Adopting the standard convention, unlike the Note 3 series, Infinix has
integrated the fingerprint sensor with the home button on the front.
Display
IPS display is a capacitive touchscreen and has full HD capabilities. The
display of Infinix Note 4 has a pixel density of 378 pixels per inch, enabling it to
offer a resolution of 1080 X 1920.
The screen offers decent touch sensitivity. But a full HD screen, in this
budget category, is a pleasant surprise. As expected from the above-mentioned
screen specs, the screen is fairly bright with the added feature of an ambient light
sensor.
Software
The OS of Infinix Note 4 is Android 7.0 or Android Nougat, the latest
smartphone OS from Android. However, the user interface (UI) or the skin is
expected to be the customized and Infinix proprietary XOS 2.2.
The XOS 2.2 skin despite having some usable features, may look cluttered.
One specific app worth mentioning is the Freeze App. It takes away the hassles of
pushing multiple buttons or screens while stopping the internet activity of apps.
Simply use the container to put these apps, the internet activity stops
automatically.
And, some good news for the social media butterflies, brought by XOS 2.0.
Multiple accounts may be operated using the UI. The apps for which this feature
is offered include WhattsApp, Facebook, etc.
Battery Life
The non-removable inbuilt Li Ion battery has a capacity of 4300 mAh.
Infinix Note 4 claims to have a battery life that can work with you for the
full two days! And the fast charging allows gaining 45% on the battery indicator
in about 30 minutes. Guess, we will have to subject the phone to rigorous usage
and testing before passing a judgment on this account.
Camera
Infinix Note 4 has something both for the selfie diehards and photography
aficionados. The front or the de facto selfie camera comes with specs that read 8
Megapixels with a soft flash. Whereas the back/main camera or the photography
with specs that read 13 Megapixels with a soft flash. For the technically inclined,
the main camera has an aperture of f/2.2.
The specs render pictures of good quality. Infinix Note 4 offers a fairly
decent amount of color depth and accuracy in the pictures.
Performance
Powered by a secondary process for graphics, the Infinix Note 4 shall have
enough juice even while running multi window operation. But similar to the battery
life this also calls for some serious usage and testing.
The MediaTek supplied MT6753 processor powers Infinix Note 4. MediaTek
MT6753 is a quad-core processor clocking 1.3GHz quad-core.
Memory:
Infinix Note 4 comes with an inbuilt standard memory of 32GB. However,
using the dedicated on-board MicroSD slot, you will be able to notch it up till 128
Gb. That shall be enough for all your data, pictures, etc.
Special features
Infinix Note 4 has nearly all the frills expected out of a modern smart phone,
although it may be from the budget category. The features include:
-
Customizable front LED Light: You may not require the full glow of flash on
your face while taking a selfie, right? Infinix Note 4 takes care of that longing
for you by providing LED light whose intensity is customizable.
-
Sensors: The on-board sensors comprise of Proximity Sensor, Gyroscope,
Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer, and Compass/ Magnetometer. Though,
the temperature sensor and barometer are missing.
-
Connectivity: On the connectivity front, it offers Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n), GPS,
Bluetooth (v 4.20) and 3.5 mm Headphone jack. But the lack of FM is a
disappointment. Moreover, if you are a user and fan of USB OTG (USB On the
Go) Or NFC (Near Field Communication), you also have to wait for the next
model or scout elsewhere.
-
SIM: It is a dual SIM smartphone. Both the SIMs are Micro which are complaint
to either GSM or CDMA network and support 4G/LTE.
With full HD screen and some unique features, Infinix Note 4 looks like a good
smartphone for the budget category. However, the exact verdicts would be out
only after rigorous usage and testing.
