Career summary at Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society April 1994 – March 2015
From April 1994 to March 2015, I performed pro bono work for the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. For the last 11 years I focused solely on the Accounting field. Prior to that my work was not accounting related, but allowed for the development of transferable soft skills.
Accounting Department May 2004 to February 2015
Accounts Payable (Creditors/Debtors Clerk):
I was a key member of the accounts payable team responsible for reconciling all company creditors’ and debtors’ accounts. My responsibilities also included reconciling all company credit cards.
Treasury:
Being part of the treasury department I assisted with the petty cash management. I was responsible for the daily banking, which involved importing and exporting of bank statements as well as the release of daily EFT batches and transfers. Added to that I managed the weekly/monthly investments, working closely with representatives from different banks, making sure that the funds were invested wisely. I also managed in-house vehicle insurance policies and claims for over 300 vehicles and policy holders.
Bookkeeping:
I managed the books for numerous Public Benefit Organizations, which involved starting with cash receipts/payments up to financial reports.
Office Duties:
Over the years I have gained much experience in the different aspects of a working environment. As a person who gets along easily with other people and works well both in a team or alone, I trained newer members of the different teams.
I was also responsible for the computer support to all team members’; right up to management level. This required hardware and software installations as well as trouble shooting computer issues.
I was a backup for the switchboard operator.
I performed various administrative duties within the office environment.
Kitchen/Dining Room Department April 1994 to April 2004
During this time I worked as an in-house chef, this included working along with a team and catering for around 800 persons per meal. With 3 daily deadlines this required working hard, fast and smart. I was also responsible for the ordering of food items and keeping the inventory.
