ROSE, a woman approaching her 40s, stands in the middle of a dance studio. She looks directly into the camera. Spotlight from above striked to her. The camera slowly pulls back from an extreme shot of Rose. Rose starts to dance as the camera slowly rotates around her. Rose gracefully moves her hands around her hair down to her face and smoothly glides her feet. An extreme close up shot of a fervent face of Rose appears. CROSSFADE: 2. INT. BEDROOM - MORNING EXTREME CLOSE UP. Rose opens her eyes and stares at the ceiling for seconds. Smile appears on her face. 2-A INT. BEDROOM - MORNING MEDIUM SHOT. She then tries to extend her legs and attempts to get up. Rose feels delighted as she succeeds. She carefully stretches her back and rotates her head. Her eyes set to the wheelchair/walker in front of her. Rose slowly lifts her body to the wheelchair and makes a tender smile after. She then wheels herself to the bathroom. 3. INT. BATHROOM - MORNING Rose washes her morning face and smiles at the mirror. She looks around the place and finds the toothpaste. She tries to reach for it. She slowly tries to stand and reaches for the toothpaste. Rose succeeds and cleans up after. ROSE (O.S.) (talks to herself) Ugh, Gamayng kusog pa rose 4. INT. KITCHEN - MORNING She wheels herself to the kitchen and opens the refrigerator. Rose looks for her medicine and finds out it's on the highest compartment. Rose slowly lifts herself up. She feels tired. Rose pushes herself up until she falls down her wheelchair. Mary suddenly runs to Rose and carries her up back to her wheelchair/walker. ROSE Ok ra, ok ra. Kaya ra nako akong kaugalingon. Rose insists. MARY AY SUS UNSAY OK RA? IKAW? OK? Mary pauses. 2. MARY WALA RAKA NA UNSA!? Wala man ko nimo tawga tawn uy. Mary checks on every part of Rose and fixes her. MARY Unya na pag inom sa imong tambal te, wala pa baya kay kaon. Unya mag prepare na nya ta para sa imong last phase sa imong therapy. ROSE Okay nako. Dili nako magpa therapy. MARY Last naman na te! Maka lakaw najud ka ba! ROSE Enough na to siya. Ok na.. Ok nako. 4-A. INT. KITCHEN - MORNING Mother comes in the kitchen and appears to be in a hurry. MOTHER Ayaw tawn mo pag langay-langay ha? Lakaw ta ug sayo karon. Taod-taod hawa nata diri. Mary gazes to Rose. Mother slowly walks towards Rose. ROSE Dili nako magpa therapy, Ma. MOTHER (annoyed tone) Unsa naman sad na Rose? ROSE (chill) Dili nako mubalik didto. Humana akong therapy. Ok nako. MOTHER (strong) Ay sus naa nasad ka! Mulakaw sa ko kadali! Adto sa ko ila Pits. Mary and Rose gives an empty face. Rose leaves the area. 5. INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY BACK SHOT/TRACKING SHOT. Rose wheels herself to the living room and opens the curtain. She faces the window and feels the morning breeze. She breathes deeply and looks outside. 3. Mary approaches Rose. MARY Te.. Pasagdi lang sa to si Mama. ROSE Ok ra. Mayta makasabot si Mama. MARY Pero te, ngano di naman ka magpa therapy? ROSE Ok na ko. Kaya na nako. MARY Wala paman ka nahuman sa imong therapy, te. Pero hapit najud kaayo. Gamayng antos nalang jud. Like hebily. Rose didn't say a word. She stayed by the window, watching the world outside. 5-A. INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY Mary knows that Rose doesn't want to be bothered. She leaves the place and walk towards her keyboard. Mary fixes her table and plugs in the keyboard. The song opens with a high pitched first note. 5-B. INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY Mary breaks into song "Napu Kalibo" as Rose listens by the window. While Mary is singing, Rose unconsciously fell asleep on her wheelchair, listening. CROSSFADE: 6. INT. DREAM - DANCE STUDIO Rose stands in the middle and flexes her body through the song. Her movements are awkward at first but as the song intensifies her movements become more confident and fluid and smooth. CUT TO: 7. INT. LIVING ROOM - AFTERNOON MARY (whispers) Te, te nabalik na si mama. Nana ang taxi. Ngandam na ta kay ma late unya ta Mary holds the wheelchair arm. 4. ROSE Dili na lage ko.. MARY Di naka ganahan ma ayo te? ROSE Naayo nako. 7-A. INT. LIVING ROOM - AFTERNOON Mother comes in the place and notices something. MAMA O Unsa naman mo diha? Wala pa lage mo nag ilis? Pangita'e na nag sanina imong Ate, Maria! ROSE Ayaw na Ma.. Dili nata mu adto. MAMA Ngano man? Dako na baya tag nagasto ani ha! Dili pa kaya sa sweldo sa imong manghud, di nasad makaya sa akong lawas mu trabaho. ROSE Di ko ma.. MAMA Nganong selfish man kaayo ka!? Padung na kag kurenta nya ingana ka!? Rose starts to tear up. MAMA Kinsa man mu atiman nimo? Kahibaw ka nga wala diba? Rose was slightly taken back by her mother's question. A moment of silence ensued. Camera changes to Mary. MARY (slightly intense) AKO MA! AKOY MAG ALAGA NI ATE! Ayaw ug pugsa si Ate. Dili lalim iyang gibuhat didto sa gawas para nato. Sakto nato tanan. Mary surprised by her remark, looks down and her shoulders droop. Mother exits the room. Rose breaks down. Rose looks out the window, still crying. Mary stares at her sister and backs away from her. 5. 8. INT. LIVING ROOM - AFTERNOON Minutes later, Mary suddenly hums. It's the tune from her song in Rose's dream. Rose stops crying and slowly turns her attention to Mary. Rose wheels towards Mary. ROSE Uh, Mary.. MARY Te...unsa man? ROSE Sorry kaayo ganina ha? MARY Okay ra to te uy. ROSE Dili... sorry jud sa akong gi buhat nimo. Sakto man sad si mama. Sorry kay nadumtan tika. MARY Ha? Ngano gi dumtan na nuon ko nimo te? Wa man kay gibuhat nako! ROSE Kay nakuha nimo ang ganahan nimo sa kinabuhi. MARY Ay te, way in'ana'ay te! Kebaw ka, privilege kaayo na nga nakatabang ka sa tibuok pamilya, kung wala ka, wa jod ko kaabot aning ing-ani. Kami man gani magpasalamat unta nimo ani tanan. Inspirasyon jud takRose cuts off Mary. ROSE Ayaw na pud ko pahilaka bi pero thank you sad bitaw. Tungod nimo na tagaan kog paglaom nga mabuhat nako akong gusto. MARY Unsa diay imong gusto te? Abi nakog happy na ka atong naka trabaho kas gawas. ROSE Oo happy man, pero lahi raman gud if mabuhat nimo imong gusto. Gusto jud nako ang makasayaw. Tungod nilang mama, wa nahitabo akong gusto kay lahi man ilang ganahan. 6. MARY Aw ganahan diay ka ma krumper te? Hehehe Mary actions some krumping moves. ROSE HAHAHAHA! Di sad uy! Contemporary akong gusto. Kanang pina bali bali lawas ba, lupad lupad. Naka workshop2x ko sa gawas pero wala pa jud ko ka perform. MARY Nindota ana te uy!!!! ROSE Lage. Nindot jud pero kuan ba! kato ganina, unsa to imong gi tukar tukar? MARY Aw kato te? Akong kanta nga gisuwat te ROSE Para kinsa mana? Ikaw ha. MARY Secret hahahahah. Jimma ra to uy ROSE Char. Sige daw pwede kantahan ko nimo ato? MARY Sige te! Pero wa pa bya ni mahuman. Pero sure jud ko nga ikaw ang pinaka una makadungog ani! 8-A. INT. LIVING ROOM - AFTERNOON Mary walks toward her keyboard and starts to play her song. The song starts out soft. Rose suddenly feels light and happy. Her body wants to move but she can't. And Mary ends the song at the first chorus. ROSE (smiles) Nindota oy.. Nindot jud kaayo. Tara adto tag recording studio! MARY Hala ha. Nag joke. Paayo usa. FADE TO BLACK 7. 9. INT. KITCHEN - MORNING WIDE SHOT OF KITCHEN. Backshot of Mary, in her short shorts and an oversized white shirt covers her body. She stops scrambling the egg and washes her hands. She stretches and walks towards the DVD player and turns on the music. (LOCAL SONG DAPAT) A face of an uplifted Mary appears. Mary walks her way back to the sink and prepares breakfast for Rose. 10. INT. BEDROOM - MORNING WIDE SHOT OF ROOM. Mary's morning alarm buzzes the whole room as Rose wakes up to it. 11. INT. DINING AREA - MORNING Mary quickly set aside the knife, stands up and washes her hands. MARY Hala ui. Patay jud ko ani 10-A. INT. BEDROOM - MORNING Mary slowly opens the door and come across Rose with a small smile. She gives a sigh and grabs her phone, turns off the on going alarm. MARY Te? Hehehe. Kanang good morning, ganina raka nag mata? Rose nods and gives her a smile. Mary smiles back. MARY Ali bangon na te. Mama-init sa ta. 12. INT. LIVING ROOM - MORNING Mary wheels Rose to the living room and fixes the curtains. ROSE Tabangan na tika didto bi Rose attemps on wheeling herself to the kitchen. MARY Aysus ok ra te uy ara lang ka, akoa naning trabaho karon. 13. INT. LIVING ROOM - MORNING Mama appears and greets them with a confused face. Mary continues preparing the food. Suddenly, the music gets louder. Mary looks around and sees Rose infront of the DVD player. Mary smiles and tucks her hair behind her ear, smiles and goes back in preparing the food. 8. Mother walks her way to the living room, sits down the couch with her coffee. MAMA So unsa namay plano nimo Rose? ROSE (wheels herself to the window) (didn't answer) () Mary sets her eyes to Rose, listening to their conversation and continues preparing breakfast. MAMA Mao jud na imong ganahan? Ug ganahan ka maayo ka, padayon ta sa imong therapy. ROSE Ma, mag sige nalang ba ta ug lalis tungod ani? 13-A. INT. DINING AREA - MORNING Mary makes an interruption and tries to cheer up the situation. Breakfast is ready. She calls Rose and her Mother. MARY (In good vibes) Hui! Kamong duha! Kasayo ug kanindot sa buntag unya mag lalis namo. Dali namo, mangaon na ta, lami kaayo ni akong giluto para ninyo. Cooked with love gyud ni. 13-B. INT. DINING AREA - MORNING Rose and Mother approaches the dining table. Everybody is set to eat. Mother and Rose are facing each other while Mary sits right on them. Mary breaks the silence in the room. MARY Ma, asa ka ugma? Kuyog ta na. MAMA (sharp)(Voice exclaimed) Asa man? Unsa nasad na imong plano, Maria? MARY Ingna sa nga mokuyog ka (smirks) MAMA Unya kana???? (points her lips to Rose) 9. MARY Bilin ra man daw siya. Bantay balay. Mother sets her eyes to Rose while eating. Rose continues eating, looking at her food. Minutes later, mother stands up and puts her plate sa sink and walks towards the door. MARY (shouts) Ma! Adto lang ta kita ha! Alas syete sa gabie. Mother is by the door as Mary shouted and she just nodded to Mary's remark. 14. INT. KITCHEN - MORNING After breakfast, Rose helps Mary with the dishes. 14-A. INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY Having a good time, Rose sets up the karaoke, plays the kinect and plays billiards after. Rose wheels herself to the window while Mary walks towards her keyboard. 14-B. INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY Rose lays her hands on the window frames, grips it and tries to stand. She slowly puts her feet on the ground. Having a hard time, she stands and leans herself by the window. Slowly leading her way to walk slowly, Mary sees her. Mary reacts with a small smile. 15. INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT Mother prepares herself, wears good clothes and light make-up. 15-A. INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT As she's heading outside to put on her sandals, she was surprised seeing rose's wheelchair on the corner, confused as she mummbles. MOTHER Unsa mani?, nganong naa mani ngari? Asa man diay nis Rose? Asa man diay ning kimpang'a?! 15-B. INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT As her phone rings (Mary's calling) MARY (O.S) Ma? Asa naka? Alas siti na! Ari na 10. MOTHER Oo lagi sige padung nako Mother is dropping the call as she wears her sandals. Turns off the house lights and closes the door. FADE TO BLACK 16. INT. SAFAD THEATRE WIDE SHOT. Rose, all alone in the center stage with her wheelchair. Spotlight on her. Rose is nervous and excited at the same time. She's sweating and her hands starts shaking. Mary, stands right beside the stage with her keyboard, crosses her fingers, watches Rose with her tears about to fall. She's close to crying. Mary starts playing. Rose attempts to get off her wheelchair. She's halfway to standing. Rose lifts her head up and immediately looks at Mary at the right side. She suddenly feels tired and bites her lower lip. Rose sits down her wheelchair and smiles. ROSE (V.O.)(deep sighs) kaya rani She does it again and fails the second time. Mary continues playing and her eyes set to Rose, waiting for that moment. Rose starts to panic but she's hiding it to Mary. She tells Mary to stop playing. Mary stops. MARY (Stares Rose for 2 seconds) Okay ra ka diha? ROSE Oo ok ra. Sige padayon Rose closes her eyes, inhales softly then exhales loudly. She slowly moves her feet out of the wheelchair. Her arms holds tight to the wheelchair and tries to lift herself up. Rose is shaking and she is slowly close to standing up. Mary plays the song without Rose's permission. Rose is fully standing up. She ties her hair into a bun. Rose starts dancing. Mother arrives at the place and is shocked to what she saw. She slowly walks her way down to the stage, close to crying, focuses her eyes to Rose on stage. Rose suddenly falls down. Mary stops playing and rushes to Rose. Mother stands in her place for a minute and tears fall down her face. She goes up to the stage and comforts Rose and Mary. 11. MOTHER (crying) Unsa mani inyong kabuang gisudlan intawn uy? Ga concert mo nga way tao? Huhuhu MARY Mama sad uy. Tungod jud nimo ba nganong natumba si Ate! MARY (CONT) Nya nihilak jud ka Ma? Ana bitaw si Ate na ayo na siya. Both of them laughs while Rose set her eyes down. Mother suddenly lifts Rose and places her to the wheelchair. Mother caresses Rose's hair. She positions Rose's wheelchair facing Mary. Mother looks at Mary and points her lips to the keyboard. Mary fixes herself and walks her way to the keyboard. She starts playing and Mother lifts up Rose and locks her arms to her body. MOTHER Ayaw ug buhi ni Mama ha. Mama and Rose starts dancing. END.
