Sammy Atonya

Sammy Atonya is a results-oriented Information Management Specialist with experience in corporate records management, knowledge management, and information services. In his role as Digital Communities Lead/Communications and/or Partnerships Intern at the Alliance for Science, Sammy orchestrated a transformative communications overhaul, enhancing engagement and partnerships. He played a key role in developing internal and external communication strategies, proofreading and editing materials, and elevating the organization's online presence. Sammy demonstrated adaptability and collaboration across various units, contributing to successful events.

As a Data Officer at Ushahidi, Sammy volunteered for the Uchaguzi Project during Kenya's August 2022 general election, structuring unstructured Twitter data and contributing to technology-driven crisis response.

During his tenure as a Records and Information Management Attaché at the Kenya Revenue Authority, Sammy modernized records management systems, transitioning from paper to electronic processes. He established best practices for record retention, improving customer service, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
