•
A typical example of a Business Intelligence project using SharePoint as a frontend application.
•
The landing page is a SharePoint site with custom lists to cater for logging customer and account
migrations, capturing approvers, approvals, and escalations and maintaining multiple system
validation rules used by batch processes.
•
Access groups are used to restrict access to certain views and functions to support personnel and
system administrators only.
•
SharePoint Workflows are used to record approvals and escalations.
•
Custom forms are used to display multiple columns of data across the page instead of one below
the other and hide system information.
•
Web parts hide the navigation bar, display sticky headers, and display custom formatting using
cascading style sheets (CSS).
•
SSIS packages are used to extract data from SharePoint and load it into an SQL Server database.
This includes migration details, approver details and validation rules.
•
Customer and account details are extracted from the Teradata data warehouse, future business
segmentation is determined based on the validation rules, errors are flagged, the overall status is
determined, the required approvers are looked up and approval email requests are sent.
•
The integrated information in the SQL Server database is loaded back into SharePoint for the
frontline to address any errors and take note of declined migration requests.
•
Multiple SQL Server jobs are scheduled to run throughout the day to extract data from SharePoint
and the data warehouse, perform checks, calculate statuses, email approvers, update approvals,
create files for actioning the approved changes, archive completed migration requests and keep
SharePoint in sync.
