University of Johannesburg
(UJ) in Graphic Design in
2010. I spend my time
exploring my surroundings,
usually through a camera lens.
When not behind a camera,
I’m usually climbing boulders
as I am an avid rock climber. I
am inspired by nature and like
to incorporate its elements
into my creative work.
My name is Rowan Toselli. I am trained as a graphic designer, but I
consider myself to be an all-round creative as I actively operate in many
artistic spheres. I am also an outdoor enthusiast and mountain-lover. I have
been rock climbing for the last 20 years and I am constantly exploring the
Cape Peninsula for the next first ascent to climb. I am an active and avid
member of the climbing community in Cape Town, participate in local and
international competitions.
Recently, I have been looking for a way to bridge these two passions. About
8 months ago, I embarked on a side project called Be Bolder – an outdoor
content creation stream that I run with my wife. One major aim is to
showcase creating real and raw stories on bouldering and the outdoors.
We endeavour to produce these stories in a cinematic manner by creating
short films and action photography.
For the last 9 years, I have worked as a graphic designer collaborating with
multiple agencies and brands. I feel that I can be a great asset to First
Ascent as I am firstly a designer with photographic and film skills, and
secondly, I spend most of my free time outdoors and rock climbing merging both of these worlds is my dream.
I have always loved First Ascent products and have used them for many
years. I would love to be part of a brand that I believe in and work with
like-minded people.
