The Monster: From Under Your Bed to the Big Screen
Are you afraid of the dark?
Captive Cinema’s latest horror-thriller flick, The Monster, feeds in our unexplainable fear of the dark.
Directed by Bryan Bertino (The Strangers), and starring Zoe Kazan, the film centers on the terrifying encounter of a divorced and troubled mother and her willful daughter while on a late-night drive in a sub-urban road. Threading through the stormy night, the mother-daughter duo suddenly finds themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere when their car dies after a sudden collision. Shocked, and helpless, the two waits for aid. But there in the darkness that surrounds them lurks something they thought only exists in their imaginations. Will they survive the night and their fears?
The Monster garnered a lot of positive reviews from early screenings, cited for “wringing the maximum suspense and variety out of what might have easily become a claustrophobically monotonous handful of outdoor and car-interior locations.” by Variety. Kazan who played the role of the mother also earned a lot of praises for her chilling performance.
The Monster opens in the Philippines on June 14, 2017.
