Growing up in the rolling hills of the Scottish countryside, I kind of had to be best friends with the outdoors. Spending summers running away from cows and sheep that chased my sister and my friends, building bridges across rivers and staying outside playing until it got dark, the love of the outdoors and appreciating beautiful landscapes has never left me. I joined my local scout group (there was quite a few girls in the troop) and experienced my first real taste for adventure as a group of 30 kids travelled around Iceland in kilts. This trip further escalated my love for the outdoors and in retrospect is one of the reasons why I look to capture beautiful landscapes on film.
At University I studied sport sociology and did a research postgraduate on gender inequality within a fitness centre (gym). I am not meant for a life of academics and while writing my 60,000 word thesis I craved to put my findings into action, rather than simply write about it academically. I wanted to see how gender inequality translates into the real world. Through watching YouTubers who inspire me (MrBenBrown, DantheDirector, Rose Ellen Dix and Jacks Gap) I look to travel around the globe and explore the hardships and inspiring tales that groups such as the LGBT community, women and ethnic minorities face in their day to day lives.
