Assistance (USAID BHA)
For: Identified Funding Opportunity
Project Duration: August 1, 2020 – July 31, 2021 (1 Year)
Donor: United State Agency for International Development (USAID)
Budget: USD 4,011,077
Main Partner: Data Friendly Space (DFS)

Secondary Data Review and Analysis.
Background
Today, the world is confronted with an unprecedented crisis ushered in by the virus known as Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS-CoV-2) or COVID-19 which started in China in December 2019.
With the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General declaring COVID-19 a global pandemic on March 11th, 2020,
strict travel restrictions have been imposed worldwide to curb the spread of the virus and this is affecting people’s
movement. Consequently, the impact of movement limitations will be felt at each step of assessment and analysis
cycles, which are critical in conducting efficient and effective humanitarian responses.
Vulnerable communities who are already facing a multitude of challenges from conflict and natural disasters, and all
humanitarian organizations that serve those groups will be worst hit by the impact of the pandemic, hence the need to
provide suitable solutions to the growing global needs for assessment and analysis among humanitarian stakeholders.
About COVID-19 Situation Analysis
The Covid-19 Situation Analysis project aims to strengthen assessment and analysis capacities in countries affected by
humanitarian crises and now the COVID-19 pandemic by addressing challenges in data and information
comprehensiveness, consistency, and value.
In order to achieve its objectives, iMMAP intends to use the Data Entry and Exploration Platform (DEEP) to generate
repositories of pre-organized secondary data for each country.
In partnership with Data Friendly Space (DFS), an organization specialized in secondary data and situation analysis using
the DEEP platform, iMMAP will generate a comprehensive secondary data review of the reports, assessments and
research papers available at field level. It will also provide humanitarian actors a thorough analysis of the impact of the
COVID-19 pandemic on the condition of the people in each country, providing lessons learned and guidance for ongoing
and future assessments, and programming globally.
Why Work with Us?
We envision a collaborative process with USAID to help contribute to our ever-expanding dataset with additional
secondary sources, reports, and information on your past, ongoing, and future assessments.
Our collaboration can result in a deeper understanding of the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable populations and the
humanitarian community’s ability to collect and analyze data. Additionally, our team is looking to engage partners in the
project’s analysis process to gain additional thematic insights, promote further discussions and reach a consensus on
the outputs of the project. As an added benefit of partnering with the COVID-19 project, humanitarian actors can have
access to regular or ad-hoc requests of datasets, and can be provided content via an Application Programming
Interface to include in other external dashboards, applications and interactive analysis products.
Geographical Scope
The project is targeted at six countries namely; Colombia, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, DRC, Nigeria and Syria.
Data Protection
Our data protection policy ensures that access to data will not be automatic and a vetting process is in place to decide
on access rights on case-by-case basis. Our team will ensure that any data you contribute is assigned an appropriate
confidentiality setting to ensure compliance with all applicable data protection agreements and restrictions.
