EDUCATION:
Graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, USA in the field of
Russian history, on scholarship from the Turkish Ministry of Education
English language courses (six months each) at the Middle East Technical University
in Ankara, Turkey and at the Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, in the USA
Graduated from the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Ankara
University, top of my class. After graduation passed the scholarship exam of the
Ministry of Education with top grades and was awarded scholarship to study Russian
history in the USA
Graduated from Bakırköy (now Erkan Avcı) Industrial Vocational High School,
Istanbul, where I received technical education in electronics

EXPERIENCE:
Freelancing as translator and editor since 2012
Worked for a Turkish publishing company for five years, mainly translating books
from English and Russian to Turkish
Worked as a tech support agent for Siemens Business Services (SBS) for two years,
providing technical assistance in English to Toshiba notebook owners in the USA
Worked at the Turkish NTV Radio for two years, where I recorded weekly programs,
prepared jingles and oversaw the nightly broadcasts. Also translated [EN>TR]
subtitles for various movies and shows broadcast on NTV’s CNBC-e affiliate.
For a year worked as in-house translator at Set Systems (www.set-systems.com),
Turkey, where I translated legal, marketing and technical documents to and from
Turkish-English-Russian. Also edited projects assigned to freelance translators
For two years worked as administrator for a Turkish company which produced
decorative items and garden accessories made of copper, exclusively for the American
market. I ensured reaching the necessary production standards, planned the production
processes and workflow, dealt with suppliers, international partners and trained the
personnel. As a result of my work product return rate was decreased from 11-12% to
less than 3%. I also prepared product brochures, marketing materials and user and
installation guides in English for the American market.
For two years worked as interpreter for Mr. Oleg Tsvetov, former swimming coach of
the USSR and Ukraine national team, who was the head coach of the Petrolofisi
swimming team. As I was a student, I worked part-time on evenings, weekends and in
the summer. I assisted Mr. Tsvetov in his day-to-day communication with swimmers,
parents, colleagues and swimming federation officials during training, camps,
championships and social events, interpreting from/to Russian <-> Turkish.
